I've thought about doing that with a few knives that have the blade sticking out of the handle a lot when closed. Looks good!

Not a big mod on my endura because it's my first Spyderco and I want to keep it as it was when I bought it. But the original black clip was too scratched, I just polished the clip on my endura:

That's what its lookin like to me as well, or maybe a Tenny D. Smith. I used a dremel to cut out the spine and sandpaper to thin the blade stock. The sharpmakers rods were use a ton for too may tasks to list.
I won't be finishing this one tho. Its spoken for, and the new owner will complete the rub job on the blade. So I snapped a few of the unfinished piece for myself, but ill share one.

Do you think it would mess up the knife if you only ground half of it flat? I was thinking of how they make a razor blade sharp and I think half is flat and half has an angle. I think then you'd have to do something like a 4/1 method with sharpening.

You can grind a knife a lot of ways...Personally I like some symmetry if for no other reason, looks.

I have owned chisel grinds and I know they have their place, but I always felt like it was a way to cut your production costs in half (or more)...As you can see, I like my knives to look a certain way (and perform).

If it was ONLY about performance, I would probably do as you mention and grind one side...I imagine it would work as well. In the hardest cuts, the blade will tend to veer in the direction of the grind, but that is pretty easy to work with (for what I do).

When I sharpen these sorts of knives (chisel grinds), I do not use a 4:1 method except for touch ups. Rather, for full blown sharpening, I will work the grind side until I get a burr on the unground side, then work the unground side only long enough to remove that burr. If I had to guess, I would say it is probably more like 50:1.
    Thanks,

    Alright, interesting. Thanks.

About veering to the side, I think you could pick which side you grind flat according to which hand you're cutting with.

definitely...and "veering" is a bit of an overstatement on my part....probably better to say that the blade wants to drift one way slightly

    Hi guys,

I have sand the handles of my dragonfly because the originals are too sensitive to scratches:

I have polished the slice of the scales and the clip is always polish.

    Yeah it's a good idea
I'm looking for microbeads* a police handle. I think that the result could be nice.

*I'm not sure of the word , it's the same principle as sanding except that instead of sand, they are metal beads

Technically you would probably call it media blasting since depending on the material being shot, you would use different media, some use crushed walnut shells, some use baking soda, glass beads, sand, steel ball bearings etc. It depends on how hard the material is.
