Not always, but it doesn't necessarily mean his answer wasn't true. Stands to reason that some "Spyder swag" changes hands one or more times in the Golden area before winding up on eBay. I use to live in Ellenville, NY and, at that time, it would have been hard to find someone who didn't know anybody who worked for Schrade.
Then again, if memory serves, this is not the first time this particular seller has offered Spydeco items of dubious heritage on eBay. Might have even been someone Sal recognized as a former employee when he offered something questionable a while back. Even if that last part is not the case, the source may be one (or two) hops closer than he's letting on.
