    Automobile Rescue Tool

I`m guessing there`s a good number of people in the EMT industry here.

What do you think is a better tool...A hook cutter or a straight sheepfoot knife for seat belt?

Also, for an impact tool against glass, would it be better to have a solid carbide tip tool or a spring loaded one?

I`m thinking of buying one to keep in my truck in case of emergencies.

Recently bought this for my father. http://www.amazon.com/Life-Hammer-Re...456257&sr=8-13

I like the hammer as if the first strike does not work, you can still repetely strike the window.

More info here from the manufacture. http://www.lifehammer.com/

And this is the other tool it comes with, great for a keychain http://www.resqme.com/

Knock on wood never had to use them.

My wife and I have a Spyderco Assist in each vehicle. We picked them up at a Spyderco sale a while back and Black was all that was available. I would prefer Orange simply because it's easier to see in a stressful situation when you'd need it.

I have one of these and one in tactical black. They are awesome rescue/survival knives that can be abused.

The guy that made these is a local Fire Fighter here in Toronto so I support him and his knife making craft.

CRKT picked up the contract to market them.

For windows it has a hardened striking tip as well as grooves for clipping partialally opened windows.

Probably the best G-10 scales for a handle I have ever held.

My daughter is an RN in a level 1 trauma center. In order to be certified for Life Flight duty, she needs her EMT. Before she started her ambulance duty, she bought this one and liked it so well that she keeps one in her bag and one in each vehicle.

Ive handled that one on many occasions and find it very gimmicky. The blade is so-so, nothing special.

But the glass break is a pain in the ass to cock and load and sometimes doesn't generate enough force to smack the glass and break/shatter it.

Many who I work with bought it on a whim, but have since retired it for something more reliable.

Personally I wouldnt bet my life on it. It uses to many fine motor skills during stress scenarios.

That plastic key chain one however is so much better.

Best bang for my buck was the Byrd Cara-Cara full serrated. Low price point however a whole lot of knife.
