2 best folding knives for slicing an apple..

Okay this question goes for you who uses a knife when eating an apple.i have tried using my Delica 4's when slicin an apple into bite size chunks, but never get clean cuts because of the flat saber grind, where a hollow grind or FFG obviously works best, because of less resistance when cutting and slicing and where you actualy enjoy using the knife for the above mentioned task. Okay so my two favorite foldingknives for slicing up an apple for snacking, would be my Caly3 G10 plainedge/works great and my Kershaw Leek plainedge..these two do a great job, with nice clean cuts and even very, very thin slices..i would realy like to try out a Stretch for this task to feel its slicingpower..

Spyderco Military and the AG Russell Fruit Testing Knife are some of the best performer I've seen.

The one that slices for me the best is the blade on my swiss tool. Long and thin blade followed by this Burger EXK1.

    Note:
I slice mine off in sections (like orange sections) around the core. I don't use a counter top to set it on, hold knife and apple in hands. I must have a thin full flat ground blade, hollow ground blades grag.

The best is the Calypso Jr(VG10 or ZDP).
    Secound is Lum Chinese.
    Third is Stretch.

    All do an excllent job.
    Waiting for....Calypso Jr.,

Apple in hand being cut up with a Delica 4. UKPK does a great job also. Flat ground blades are great slicers but you can do a great job with all the rest of them too.

Military - I like to start by cutting it in half and need the length. I try the apple test with every knife.

edit - My Caly cuts through the apple so effortlessly that I'm actually afraid of cutting myself.

I guess I'm the odd ball of the bunch. I use my Superhawk to peel, and then slice off pieces to eat. FFG blade and the very slight curve of the blade is great for peeling.

The narrower the blade the better-slicing an apple is one task that most Spydercos do not excel at. The Stretch does a pretty good job though, because it's long enough to cut the apple in half in one stroke, but even it is a bit wide for cleanly cutting the seeds/core out of the resultant slices. The thinner and narrower the blade, the better. Swiss army knives are pretty much ideal for this task.

I generally try to use my Military or Caly 3 for this task due to the FFG on those blades. Much cleaner cuts than on say a Delica 4. For just cutting pieces/ chunks off I like my Salt I just for the properties of the H1 steel.

    Cool

Im sure SAK's do a good job at slicing up an apple, but i would still prefer a locking folder over a slipjoint,UNLESS its a UKPK,ofcourse because its quite a sturdy slipjoint..the hawkbill's a reckon can excell at peeling and slicing, specialy peeling, like oranges..i would say the Spydie Kopa, for perfect slices when cutting up an apple, and a Kiwi for coreing an apple..makes the perfect fresh cut, fresh fruit salad..

The clip blade on a medium stockman is great for cutting wedges... or entirely in half, depending on the size of the apple.
Newest in hand: Drop Point UKPK PE, Leaf UKPK SE.

I exclusively eat my apples with a knife, slicing pieces off 1 at a time. I have this thing about getting bits of peel stuck in my teeth. I use SAKs for this most of the time. I have a Victorinox Solo Plus that lives in my lunchbox. It is the best for apples. It has a large slim blade well suited to slicing.

Any thin, FFG blade should be good for apples.

Thin blades are better for most food-related work. Hence, the Centofante 3 and 4 work well for this. But actually, I often use a "slim series" Opinel for this kind of tasks and they're as good as unbeatable for that use.

The Catcherman is wonderful for slicing anything.

The Stretch and G-10 Delica are also great

Depending on the size of the apple, these both work well...

Are we supposed to strictly stay with Spydies? If so, my Krein reground Jess Horn ZDP.

    For other knives....a trusty Sodbuster.
