    Exclamation Washington Shooter

You know stuff like this really puts a stain on us as a Country. My condolences go out to the family of the officer who was killed yesterday. If it weren't for his bravery there could have been a lot more people killed.

It's a shame this Von Brunn is so old. It takes all the fun out of rot in jail if he lives through his injury's.

I thought that DC already had some pretty stiff gun laws. This guy had a felony in the 80's. He shouldn't have been able to get a sling shot.

As they say Criminals will always have guns even if they outlaw them. The guy could have went to a gun show and bought the rifle or whatever it was from a individual.I hate stupid people, and it seems they are still breeding. The problem is that it has been well publicised ,so now some congresman is going to come up with some kind of new "Gun control Law" and try to disarm us law abiding citizens.I just don't understand how somebody could hate a entire race of people.I don't judge a man by what race he is but what kind of man he is.I can't find a reason to hate a entire race, maybe just a individual.

The guy was a convicted felon. It was already illegal for him to own a gun. Yet, like every criminal, he just ignored that particular gun-control law. He wanted a gun, so he went out and got himself a rifle. But watch the news media downplay the fact that an existing gun-control law failed to stop a rampaging, homicidal, racist.

I just don't see where any new law could have had or will have impact on what this guy did. People like him will always get/have guns through whatever means necessary.

    The whole situation just stinks.

All I was trying to say was that some lobbyist will use this case to try to beat us law abiding citizens down with another "gun control law".I wish they would get it through their thick skulls that disarming the American people serves no real purpose.Criminals will always find a way to arm themselves because they have no regard for the law.

I wasn't disagreeing with you. Hope it didn't look that way.

You're 100% right about that. A gun-control law fails, so the politicians propose another gun-control law. Makes about as much sense as purposely breaking 9 of your fingers, because you accidentally broke one of them.

To the members here talking about DC gun laws: This case has nothing to do with DC gun laws besides the fact he illegally enterd DC with a gun. He's not a resident of DC, and obviously doesn't care about ANY laws.

The perp is from Maryland. It's still illegal for a convicted felon to own a firearm in any state....this is a Federal law. There's no telling where he acquired his rifle. The fact of the matter is a convicted felon crossed state lines with said firearm, traveled into DC, entered a Federal building and killed someone. By doing so, he broke several local DC laws regarding firearms and definitely broke several Federal laws.

The "new" gun laws need to be focused on keeping firearms away from felons and the mentally ill....not us law abiding citizens. Bans do absolutely nothing to stop felons from acquiring firearms. The politicians know this, and don't care who their stupid laws and bans effect. Their main objective is for ALL of us to never be able to buy firearms.....period. When a national registration law passes....it will be the door the feds need opened, to come get all of our guns. Law abiding gun owners need to fight this movement, and say NO to national firearms registration.
