Heading out to the woods

It's about 1:00 a.m here but I need some air. I'm putting on my gear and filling a few pockets with my favorite Spyders. Gotta get me some time out in the woods. Sometimes I feel I have to just cut through all the distractions and just head out into some clean space to find my way. It doesn't matter if it's night or day. Just gotta go. Can anyone relate?

Oh yeah, I can relate. Sometimes I walk my woods at night just to get away for a bit. It's a good excuse to play with my Surefires and Spydies.

I took along a Barong and my most recent arrival, the sprint FG Rookie (sweet little knife - I swear the blade looks longer than the handle. How do they do that? ) Also, my Bill Moran on my belt. And of course my Surefire too but I didn't need it much. With all the combined moon and city light, it was pretty bright out there. I had a great hike, clean fresh air after it had rained all day. The creek was running nice and not a soul around to break my reverie. Bliss.

Cosmic! Heck, just went out on a nature hike yesterday. Just talked with guide and planning a more extensive trek soon (a 3 hr. day trek up a "small" mountain).

I hit the game farm with first aid salt, fix blade and my seb. ONLY place were I can find myself between the distraction.

Very nice! Which Surefire do you have? The Surefire I take in the woods is my 6P with Malkoff M60. Sometimes it's the Z2 with the M60.

I'm even newer to Surefires than I am to Spyders. It was talk about Surefires on this forum that got me to take the plunge. WOW, now I see the light - literally. But so far, I've only got the one, an E1B Backup. And thanks to some kind person here (can't remember who) posting that Surefire was going to raise prices this year, I managed to grab one before the price increase. Saved me 29 bucks! Thanks to whoever it was!

If you want a light with a little more juice, consider picking up a plane-jane Surefire 6P. Buy an LED drop-in assembly called the Malkoff M60, and you have a 220 lumen (this has been independently tested) 6P. The quality is top notch, and Gene Malkoff's customer service is perhaps a half-notch above Spyderco's--if you can believe that!

No, I don't make a dime off of it; I'm just that impressed and satisfied with Malkoff's products.

Buy an LED drop-in assembly called the Malkoff M60, and you have a 220 lumen (this has been independently tested) 6P. Thanks for the advice, SIG. I've been eyeing the 6P. I'd also like another Surefire about the size/weight of the E1B, but with the light modes reversed, so that the low comes on first, then the high. Any suggestions? Oh yeah, I also want to get a couple of the G2 Nitrolons in LED for the car and garden shed, and one of the HL1 Helmet lights for hands-free stuff. Uh-oh, I'll be eating into my Spydie cash if I'm not careful.

I'm sorry for your loss. People sure can be terrible jerks sometimes. Getting out in the trees and sun and air won't bring back your photos and other personal stuff, but it might help take your mind off the BS for awhile. Anyway, I feel for you quattro.

The L1 Lumamax has a two-stage, non-clicky tailcap. Press lightly for low, press harder for high. I believe it's 65 lumens on high. The upcoming LX1 is the upgraded version of the L1, with the same output as the E1B. However, it could be who-knows-how-long before they're in people's hands.

Careful! Surefires multiply almost as badly/quickly as Spydies.
