Last I check these go for around $50 to 75.

I also like that it doesn't even have a clip I have been trying to get a clip out of a SFO for one of my Meerkats, but they don't have any and probably won't have any until there have another run of the Meerkats. And, that next run is undetermined last I heard.

Can't see anything special about it. It's not one of the US made ones, seller is not claiming it was once owned by <fill in name of celebrity of choice> and it doesn't have a rust spot on the blade that forms a perfect portrait of <fill in name of religious figure of choice>. And, as Jim pointed out, it's missing its clip.

Haven't visited the eBay forums for a while so I don't know if they still do or not, but the "biddies" there use to call idiot bidders "numpties" and described bidding like that as "when numpties collide". I think that phrase sums it up about as politely as possible.

If you read the bids, it looks like someone placed a lowball bid and moved on. Bidder 2 then bids and takes the early lead. Numpty 1 outbids them with an early nuke, Bidder 2, who now becomes Numpty 2 either:

A - wants the item THAT BAD
or
B - just HAS to find out how high N1 bid

so they keep upping their bid a few bucks at a time till they outbid N1.

Now we have to see it N1 wants it even more (and wonder if N2 is now hoping nobody else bids, or praying someone else does).

Hell I had that in my watched items too. Guess I'll be letting this one go. I just don't get it sometimes.

I've seen Meerkats selling for a similar price recently. It made me quite happy that I managed to get a couple early last year before the prices started to rise significantly. However, the fact it doesn't have a clip and I see no mention of it being boxed makes me a little more surprised that particular knife is attaining top dollar. It would take getting on for £75 (approx $110 at the current exchange) for me to part with either of mine. If I was in a position of being forced to sell and accept a little less, the lowest I'd be prepared to go would be £50 (approx $75). Please remember that I'm in the UK and the market isn't exactly the same as it is in the US. The figures I've given may well seem outrageous to you but importing is getting awkward and there's virtually no chance of finding a Meerkat at a UK store. If you do by the time the shop and distributor mark ups are added I suspect that most of you would be quite shocked just how much the retail price would be.

I am eventually going to get another Meerkat to replace the one I foolishly sold on eBay a few years ago, but I won't be paying that kind of price for an incomplete knife!
