Here are a couple of it with a C83 Schempp Persian for comparision. Fit and finish of the Harrier suck. Clip was garbage, think they were made out of recycled cans. Byrd "comet" hole is no match for the Spyderhole, in either looks or ease of use. However, IMHO, the way the rounded handle brings out the "grain" of the micarta puts the Persian's slab handles to shame.

What's the story on this one? Just a byrd design that wasn't up to par?

it's a shame. That looks like it could have been a cool knife if the QC problems could have been worked out.Did they sell many of them?

Most Byrd's can be seen here: http://www.spydie.nl/byrd/

Some are missing but an update is planned.

I think there were two problems. The QC issues probably could have been solved. The real "killer", as I recall, was that the factory making them was selling out the back door from the git-go. Hopefully, it could be revived at some point in the future. With a couple minor improvements and a bit more attention to fit and finish, it could be a darn decent knife.

I bet it would sell well,if they did.So many people love the persian that missed out on it.It would also be a lower cost alternative for the people who couldn't afford one.It looks like it could be real nice.
