I've used fine (1500) sandpaper to sand it following the grind line, but if it's deep enough to catch fingernail then it won't work.

    3m Scotchbrite

I use the green 3M Scotchbrite pads and they work really well on light scratches like from rubbing against keys and such. I learned that at the SFO from Gail.

Are those the pads that are about a 1/4" thick and made of an abrasive type plastic?

Why would you want to remove the scratches? They are what makes an SS knife pretty.
