My EDC with a new toy..

I picked up a new toy a couple months ago, and finally got around to taking a couple pics of it. Here it is..

It's a Walther PPS in 9mm. I was a bit apprehensive about purchasing one since some people on the Walther forums have had trouble. Other than a couple of FTF's, I've had no major issues. This little gun is more accurate than it should be, and I think it has less felt recoil than its bigger brother. It has been a LOT easier to conceal than the P99 too, thanks to how thin it is. All in all, I'm glad I took the plunge and picked one up.

Nice set up. Is that a High Noon holster?

Nice Walther. I toyed with getting one, but money got tight and now I carry a Sig 225. I love my Sig though.

    Chris,
Nice IKE. I've had one in my wallet since 1973.

battlecreek1, good eye. It's a High Noon Bare Asset. It really does a great job for such an inexpensive holster.

boxer93, I actually just started carrying it the past year or so. Weird story how I came to possess it... I was at my 9th or 10th birthday party, when an older gentleman asked my parents if it would be ok to give me a gift. They gave the ok, and he handed me the coin. I've somehow managed to keep it all this time.

    wescobts,

Actually it's a Pioneer. Basically the same as a Soldier, but it has a keyring. I've never lost an Sak out of my pocket, but it's nice having a little extra security.

Hi Chris, the new PPS looks very 'techie' indeed. I would have to shoot it to tell more.
Too bad the PPK is only .380ACP

Congrats on the new carry piece! I too just picked up a new one - Glock G36. Just got it yesterday so I have to put a couple boxes of ammo downrange before it replaces my trusty Colt Compact as my CCW, but I'm looking forward to the reduction in weight!

I've heard alot of good things about the PPS so let us know how it shoots for you when you get the chance! I REALLY like the slim lines of these Walthers.

I think you'll like the G36 alot. I've carried a G26 for three years and it's my go to gun now. I still love my G19, but the 26 is just so easy to conceal. Like Chris, I carry in a High Noon (Mr. Softy vs Bare Asset), but should receive my new High Noon Public Secret today! I like straight drop holsters for the flexibility of going from Appendix IWB to 4 O'Clock IWB carry. Let us know how you like the G36.

Yep, this is my first Glock in close to 20 years (my very first handgun was a 19). I've been carrying 1911's (LW Commander, Para P-10 and the Officer's/Compact) for the last 10 years or so, IWB 4 O'clock in Milt Sparks rigs but just discovered AIWB and crossdraw. I ordered a Tucker Sharkbite for the Colt and a pair of DM Bullard Tuckable IWB's for both the Colt and Glock. The Bullard's are cant and height adjustable so it'll be nice to play around with zero or slightly positive cants for appendix or crossdraw or back to FBI cant for 4 O'clock carry. But honestly, I don't think I'll carry any other way than "up front" now. Too many advantages to behind the hip.

Can't wait to shoot the 36 and get it in some good leather. Thanks for the endorsement, not that that pistol really needs one though.

    wescobts,

That I am. How'd you guess? I'm a deputy, but currently work in the county jail.

    Billy,

I'd actually considered the G36 before I got the PPS. But since I wanted to stay with a gun in the same caliber as my P99, I went with the Walther. It helps that it's also one of the thinnest carry pistols on the market. I was surprised at how little recoil this thing has. I'm serious when I say my P99 feels like it has more snap than this little gun. It's very accurate as well. I've been able to keep all my shots on the white on a standard "Q" target at 25 yards. At 7-15 yards, it'll chew the center out. In fact, the last time I went to the range, an older gentleman complimented me on my grouping. Needless to say I was riding high the rest of the day.

You'll have to let us know how your first outing with the G36 goes.

    battlecreek,

I think my next holster will be straight drop, just for comfort's sake. Not to say that the one I have now isn't comfortable, it's just that I have to keep it closer to 5'o'clock for the best feel.
