Those are great knives. Very light, very easy to carry, super pointy and sharp. I've got one that's all black like the top example in that picture.

My favorite? An old Jimmy Lyle (made the first "Rambo" knife") drop point hunter w/ a jigged bone handle. Over the years I've dressed out a number of deer and other game with it.

However, the one that gets the most use is a Cold Steel Spike. A "gift" from a friend (he gave it to me 'cause he didn't want it anymore) its my beater.

I use it as a icepick. Which is about what its good for.

I like the Busse Badger Attack 3.

Aside from size and shape, I like the weight:

It is .27" at the handle but near the edge it is thinner so it is still quite usable for finer tasks. It is my "do-anything-the-millie-can't" knife.

I have had a .32" knife (a bit more than 5/16") and it is too thick to do anything other than chop.

Been really liking my RC-3 from Rat Cutlery. Have used it on a couple camping and fishing trips and it's a nice knife. Recently got hold of a prototype of the necker they will be coming out with sometime soon, and I can already tell this one will be getting a lot of pocket time. I've never liked any neck knives I handled until this one. It may soon become my favorite fixed blade.

I really like my Moran drop point as well, but the sheath isn't very good, in my opinion, and I prefer a full tang on my fixed blades. The Moran is extremely sharp and comfortable in hand, though.

I may be slow, but I'm not very good.

Use to carry a Becker Crewman or Necker depending on the adventure. Now they collect dust...

rock salt is number 1, although i kinda wish it had a slightly more secure sheath...

aqua salt is a great utilitarian FB knife for up here, as well...

my #1 bush knife used to be a BM Fecas Offsider, until the Rock Salt came along...

Stock Photo off the net..not mine

One of these hangs off the back of the milk crate on my Kayak...nothing takes the 'sharp end' off of a thrashing shark better than this! Plus, if it goes over the side I can pick up another faily easily.

It's an old 1950-60's camp knife made of a high speed steel saw blade, like M7, or M42 or something strange.

    I have fixed blades in Vascowear, R2,OU 31,Super blue, M2, VG10, o-1, A2, W2,D2,1095, etc, etc.

I like the old western bowies when they were made of carbon steel. The old Tigershark ( Seki Japan SK-5), and the newer Crowell Barker Competition knife in 1085 ?

If I was having one custom made It would likely be in O-1, or W2, for large blades, 10V for smaller skinner types.

But I can't pick just one!

I've been carrying a Koster Bushcraft in CPM3V. Really like the steel and the scandi grind on it. Recently got a 2009 version of this knife but I have not had a chance to get out and use it yet. Here is a shot of my old one.

A lot has changed since I first replied to this thread. That said....

My favorite fixed blade would have to be a RAT Cutlery model or a Tom Krein fixed blade. I don't own a Krein fixed blade yet but I hope to after a little saving up.
