Howdy y'all,
Is Tom's sheath work as good as his re-grind work? I need a new sheath for my Street Beat, but I want a good one. So, what say ye?
Thanks!

Tom is mainly know for his regrinds, but if he does sheaths for his knives I doubt they would be of low quality. he is just to good of a maker to produce sub par sheaths.
The only individuals for sheaths that come to my mind currently are
Lifter leather
Vess sheath works
Gary Graley
Eric at onscenetactical
Paul Long
Paul Savage
Imo the above represent some of the best sheathmakers in the world and probably work on more sheaths for customs than most knifemakers combined. The above are very good at what they do. Some with kydex, leather or even both.
take care and any other questions pm away

Yes. Tom's sheaths ARE as excellent as his knives.

Have any of the above listed vendors done Mule Team sheaths that anyone has tried?
I'd love to get handles but I'm feeling too cheap to buy some. How much does Krein charge? Please PM me the answer if you don't want to post the cost.
The sheathmakers AJ mentioned are all highly regarded, though Gary Graley doesn't do sheaths for fixed blades, only folders.
I've gotten work done by Eric at OnScene (known as Normark around the knife forums) and it was excellent.
Rob Humelbaugh also does great kydex. I have several knives from Shane Sibert and Todd Begg with his sheaths. He does business as Survival Sheath Systems. http://www.survivalsheath.com/main/home.htm
I have two Krein knives and the kydex sheathwork is nice. I find the sheaths from OnScene and Humelbaugh to be somewhat more sleek and form-fitting than the ones Tom did for his knives, but each guy has their own style and it also depends on the profile of the knife. Check out examples of their work and see which you prefer.

A new subforum recently opened up on bladeforums.com for sheaths and sheathmakers.
Lots of info available there as well.![]()
Follow the mushin, but pay it no heed.
LOL not sure what Tom is charging me yet. He told me the other day it won't be till after BLADE since he's trying to get around 90 knives ready for the show.
OnScene are nice sheaths, I got one for my Mora 2000.
