Your example if a REAL Spyderco

I am new to the collecting scene and also to Spyderco in general. I have what is probably the future, a Tenacious PE, and I have one of the near past, a Native CE. A Walmart Native is also in that EDC rotation.

What I want to know is, what is a true....REAL....example of quality, look, sharp?!?

If you were to explain to someone who has no knowledge of anything sharp besides their grandpa's Case XX...what would you show them?

Caly 3.....Fit finish, economy of design, and a pocket scalpel. It's almost magical

Hey ClawSS, First Off ..."Welcome To The Family" . You'll enjoy it here and get well spydie educated. Some Great, Talented, and Intelligent Bros and Sisters here.

You have a Tenacious and a Native??? Knifebro, You have quality, looks, and sharpness at hand. Anything you hold in your hand that has a on it has all the above. Any design put out by Spyderco has a lot of time and effort put into it.

To give ya better answer from a History stand point ...Take a look at the Police, Delica, and Endura Models. These are but a few that have been with Spyderco from the beginning and Have Evolved a bit if you will and have only become better. Of course that depends highly on the user and what their point of view . When you grab a spydie, you have History ...Past, Present, and Future. Pioneers of many things in the knife world and always moving forward. Hope this helps a bit. Take Good Care and Be Safe Always.

    God Bless

If their only experience with knives was "their grandpa's Case XX" I'd show them a Kiwi, a Kopa, or one of Ed Schempp's designs. I think they'd find those easier to relate to than a non-bolstered, screw construction, tactical folder. They are also are extremely well built, with excellent fit and finish, and sharp as razors.

To get the normal feel of a spyderco. Native, Delica, endura or a Salt.

Then start kinking it up to a caly3 cF zdp189 or a manix if you can find one!

    welcome to the family.

I've always thought of the Police and Civilian as the most distinctive models in the line. However, I've got to say that the Cricket SE will always be nearest and dearest to my heart.
Then again, the Endura was my first Spydie, and I now EDC a Caly3 CF... so...

I am relatively new to this as well so I am trying to start my little collection with a well rounded approach. My first Spyderco was a Street Beat, followed by the Yojimbo, Chinook 3 and Lava. My interest in Spydie has been primarily from a design, utilitarian, and sd perspective. I have followed the first batch with an extra Lava, Delica, and my first Schempp design, the mini Persian. I think you really can't go wrong with any Spydie, a month ago I wasn't so interested in the Lava but now I own two. Just like anything, I think my interest in Spyderco knives is evolving

    Hi There,

I think the ones that, at least for me, really stand out are the Endura and Delica. They are both superb examples of Spyderco knives and are relatively well priced (at least in the U.S.A!). The Endura was the first I bought and I was that impressed with its abilities that I started buying other models.

I also love my Caly 3, its a brilliant knife in all possible ways. I love its shape, grip, blade and its razor sharpness!

    Enjoy your knives!

    Very welcome to the forums

If you want to explain Spyderco to people, first show and let handle a Military/SE and right after that a SS Cricket/SE.

This way they'll see that Spyderco just makes the best knives; big and small

    I disagree with SPYDUTCH

First let everyone see the MANIX and then the ALMITE CRICKET SE.

Then everyone will see the toughest big and small knife by Spyderco

    Caly3.

Ergonomics are excellent, shape is pleasing, blade is a pocket scalpel. Who could ask for anything more?

    Oh, yeah, and...

For me I would want to show them some of the older Micarta Models. The JD Smith, the Massad Ayoob, the Large Calypso. Those seem to have a fit and finish above the others. They are just works of art.
I have a small collection.. At least in my mind its small. All respect to Sal and this great company! Collector Club Member #120

The bread and butter seem to be the Mil, the Delica/Endura.

If you want top of the line, I think the ZDP Caly 3 and Stretch II represent the best Spyderco has to offer currently. Both were designed by Sal to be the ideal EDC knife.

On a budget the Endura/Delica do their job better than anything else out there.
