    Help: Knife Shops in Sydney

    Hi Guys,

To Aussies in Sydney, help... My cousin is going there next week, and I asked him to do a scavenger hunt for me for the Extinct Dodo... Can someone help me point him to the right direction... If there are any found, around how much does it cost AU$?

    G'day enyong112

I hate to say it but I think your cousin will have no luck finding a dodo in shops in Sydney. There are very few shops that sell knives in Sydney and even fewer who sell higher end (local perspective) Spyderco's such as the Dodo. I have never seen a Dodo in shops.

The only Dodo's that I have seen for sale have been thru websites based in Oz and one of those sites was selling discontinued stock from the Australian Spyderco distributor and that site no longer has Dodo's so I think they're all gone.

    Hi Enyong,

As per my emails to you and Ferreter's comments, it is all unfortunately true.

Sydney (and Australia) for that matter do not deal with knives much at all on a retail level. Resellers and distributers there are a few of them, but higher end and rare disco'd beasts like the Dodo are distinctly unavailable and due to Spyderco's unconventional designs (not to us though eh ?! ) they do not sell well in kitchen/ cookware stores.

You might have better luck in Bladeforums where they do pop up occasionally. Unfortunately I did end up parting ways with my own Dodo, by choice due to me not using it. However, I am looking for a replacement myself, but will wait until I have my fill of Kopas for 2008 first

Good luck to you. A few other members here might be able to help you out as to the whereabouts of one which you might be able to grab.

    Cheers

Joan made everything so much easier and really one day I gotta get down to the sunshine coast eh.

Overall the more I think I about it the more I'm done with collecting and may now get rid of most of my collection.

    take care My friend

See you in email land mate

It seems I am starting to lean toward higher end users and concentrating on collecting the smaller gents folders. Only a few more 'must-have' Spydies for me then I'm gonna go bush and start using almost all of them in some way or other.
