Here's my latest nothing flash but being a FRN collector a gold mine find.



It has taken months to find one since I lost one on E-Bay Australia last year.

I took a look at the Ocelot,
nice blade shape, it said that the tip is quite thick and strong,
simple handle shape that maximizes the grip with a finger choil.

paw prints make it kinda cute

Its a VERY solid knife. I like my ocelots much more then the original. It feels very safe in the hand. Many people I show it to think the paw prints are a bit off but I love them. Paw prints or no paw prints, I put it up there with one of the most comfortable Spydercos I have ever held.

it looks like a solid knife, and the paw prints are a plus if you ask me,
people just need to really think about it.

I find the new Delica to be an improvement over previous ones. Nicer handle, the new clip is definitely better. I don't know that I am sold on the new tip. I kinda like the older tip style, but in due time this might prove better

Congrats Miguel. After using some knives with sharper, pointier (?) tips I know what you mean, but the Delica has that feel that it could take some serious use for it's size. Enjoy

Thanks Shawn! I got the Delica with the plastic integral clip, the Delica 3 and now this one. What would be considered the Delica 2?

The 1st generation, with the molded clip actually went through 6 modifications to the mold, but they were minor changes to the clip mostly.

The 2nd generation was the all stainless model.

I found this answer, from THE MAN himself. I thought the D2 would have the second type of steel or something, but I had to look because I haven't been into Spydies that long, so I didn't know either. Now we both know
That means that now you have to get an all stainless model..right?;-)

hey that's the 1st sharpening notch i've seen on a D4, is it your handiwork

You have a sharp eye! Yes I put it on all my knives, unless it is not needed or suitable like the Sebie. It also comes in handy as an emergency wire stripper!

Shike I am a knife newbie, what would the notch be for besides the emergency stripper?

Hi Shawn! It makes sharpening a little easier as it allows you to line up on the stone a lot better. Most are not that thick there so it is not too bad but other knives are fairly thick so it makes it harder and then it leaves what some consider an unsightly mark on the back of the edge towards the ricasso.
I also like the way it looks on most knives

Hi! Sorry it took me while to reply. I was away for the weekend.
I use a Dremel Flex Shaft tool.
1. Tape the blade
2. Pad a bench vise with thick leather strips to further protect the blade.
3. Firmly hold the blade, edge up, in the vise. Clamp the blade not the handle. Wrap the handle with paper towel and tape to keep metal filings from going into the handle recess.
4. I start with a 5/32" metal removal tungsten bit (1/8" works also)to open the half-moon shape hole and then switch to a 5/32" chain saw sharpening round silicon carbide type bit. This is as far as I go with the typical Spyderco finish. A mirror finished blade will need further steps.
5. Try to anchor your hands well in order to steady yourself, start right where the ricasso meets edge, keep the bit straight and perpendicular to the blade, use a steady hand but don't force it. Let the Dremel do the work. Go straight down to about 3/32" to 1/8"
6. Work quickly to avoid overheating. If in doubt, go a little bit at a time and allow to cool. I have plenty of practice so I don't worry. The only problem occurs when the steel starts to change color but I have yet to see that by doing this.
7. Practice with a few junk knives first!!! And the number #1 rule of grinding: remove a little at a time, you cannot put metal back!
