    George,
I cannot afford to buy Phoenix, at least until March. Please, stop provoking me . It looks better and better for me every day.
Very nice pictures. Thank you for sharing.

    George,
It is nice to see your new pictures. It was seven month since your last post .
I almost lost my hope to see new pictures. Thank you for sharing. Very nice pictures. You even made me sorry about not getting USN Endura. Right on time. Thank you for little push.

I keep noticing this number (189) on the blade, and 'Collector #189' in the letters. Could anyone give me some insight in what that number means, and how one becomes 'Collector' ?

    Thanks in advance

v means variant. it is the collector club thing he must belong to, i think it guarantees him like all new knives and it has a individually numbered quantity for the club. like the forum native i think 200 of the 300 hundred were for collectors and the other hundred are just normal ones for everyone else. that's why you see the number , ie "075v" meaning that that forum native is 75/200 and v for variant in the collector club. he must be in the club and 189 is the numbered blade he received. am i right? maybe half right and half wrong. i think it has to do with the collector club...which i want to join too at some point but still obviously don't fully understand the aspects of it

I suggest you take a look at Paul's site and of course this recent thread. It should help you answering your questions. It's a good read, both of them.

how does one acquire these pilots pieces? Is there a drawing or some random selection or is it part of the collectors club membership

Of the 50 piece pilot run it looks like 44 were purchased by Spyderco staff and 6 were given away on various forums. I'm not sure how many of each grind there were.

I've seen the same hollowground pilot Manix 2 sold twice so far, it went for a small premium over the street price both times. I have yet to see a flatground model for sale anywhere.

    Here's the relevant thread.

Nice shots of that FFG pilot run Manix 2, nice to see one 'in the flesh'. I only saw the regular FFG variant as a prototype.

Love that Plain-Edge Impala!! I also love the fact that I got to see beautiful pictures of all four of my Spydercos. It won't be four for long, I have some catching up to do. Thanks for the time this took, great work.
