Sunday Bonus Picture Show: STR's Lignum Vitae zdp189 Jess Horn

Some time ago I mailed to STR a "stock" Spyderco Jess Horn with ZDP189 blade so that it could be clad with scales from the Mighty Lignum Vitae tree....
This could be my most favorite all time Clipit to date even though its clipless Steve, just thought I'd let you know its still getting plenty of pocket time and use... thanks again ...

    Oh My God !

Brian you lucky sod ! I've wanted something like that for a while now. It looks so sexy.

STR has done it once again. An already brilliant piece of work produced by Spyderco, and now refined by our favourite Knife Mechanic.

Great set of pictures as well Brian

Love that freaky green wood! I used to have a bokken made out of it, it's amazing wood!

    Great pictures, Brian!
Your Before and After pics (and knife itself) are like Day and Night.
There is a good reason why old Spyderco Horns models are so expensive now. Of course words like “hype”, “limited run”, and “discontinued” come to mind, but I also think that Horns are screaming for fancier scales. FRN just does not do it for them. Especially if we are talking about sprint runs. Can we hope it will be corrected?
    Thank you again,

    hey Whynot, thanks for looking...
I agree that these Jess Horns are more "dressy"/gentlemen's/women's type of folders.....so I personally desire micarta or wood scales.... those white micarta ones that I've seen in Peter1960's photos come to mind.....

Ja - Nice knife! STR did a great job with that LV. I've never worked with Lignum but it is supposed to be one of the hardest woods there is. Very impressive.

thanks Roman, the "mystery knife" is a Dozier Master Skinner w/desertironwood I scored from A.G. Russell a year ago .... I believe AG's catalog only carries micarta/maple options currently....

    makes a good knife great

i think STR's work just keeps getting better

better to have a knife and not need it
than to need a knife and not have it
