Post the "gadget factor" in knives

Lately it hasn't been so much a "next knife" as what "whistles
bells & sirens" it has. Lately I've been carrying in addition to :

    This one by CRK&T :

The "edgie" has a built-in sharpener. I also like the Tool logic SL3
as well ( firestarter, whistle, knife ( no bells or sirens )). What other
"gadget" knives are either on the "to do" list or in your inventory?
Also would any like to see a knife with such gadgetry?

I like Spyderco knives the way they are--simple cutting tools. I believe in the idea that you can either do one thing really well or a lot of things moderately well.

But maybe a Spyderco/Victorinox knife would be neat. s30v corkscrew

As an avid wine drinker, I really could use a corkscrew on my EDC Spydie.

I'm generally of the mindset that if a knife has the "Gadget Factor", it must be because they're trying to draw your attention away from the quality of the knife for some reason. So, as an extension of that, I generally don't even get interested by "Gadget" knives.

The one "Gadget" knife that I do like is a good SAK. But I buy them with the understanding and knowledge that their knife blades aren't super great, and that's not why I'm buying them.

for me, knives have major gadget factor. that said, it's the simplicity and utility of knives like spyderco that have this factor the most. silly erroneous features found in "gadgety" knives of other companies aren't actually good examples of design.

i am a huge gadget buff and for me it's not about number of features, but design execution. apple, sony, nintendo, spyderco, kershaw, samsung: none of these companies are known for having the most "stats" in any one product. they simply pull off good design. an apple computer isnt the fastest or the most featured, it just provides a top notch user experience that creates loyal customers. same with spyderco. top notch user experience, not necessarily the most "high end" or feature packed.

my short time on these boards has shown me how sentimental we get about things as elemental as a knife. the raw simplicity and utility of a piece of metal with some frn is very enticing. there is a real human connection to the evolved forms of primitive tools.
