    My Natives As Of Today

Here is a pic of my current inventory of Spyderco Natives. I have another C41P SS Plain Edge on the way. Now to get the blue handled models.

Nice! I always enjoy the themed collections.

Now I wonder did the Root Beer Native come in PE, and the Blue shell in SE?

Of course, you could fill in the gaps of pre/post Spyder on the blade variations as well if you really want to go mad!

FYI, the RBI only came in SE, and the BSI only came in PE.

Very nice. My favorite is the black bladed plain edge ones.

    Nice collection of Natives.

    OuchThatsSharp,

You have a nice Native collection! I don't see a numeration on your blue shell Native - could you confirm, please

From the SKU's I would say:
C41GPSI Native root beer shell inlay = combination edge
C41GPI Native blue abalone shell inlay = plain edge

    No other variations known.

Very nice collection! This is a model that has slipped through the cracks for me. Gotta get my hands on one after seeing that group.

    Hi OuchThatsSharp,

Thank you very much for your detailed answer! Maybe a misunderstanding due to my lack in English

The marking on the blade of this Native was my question, as I see a non-marked blade on your picture.
You answered "1 of 500" for C41GPI and C41GPSI - is it really #1 I guess you mean one piece of a 500 pieces production run (I own #119 and #246)

    Very nice OuchThatsSharp,

Great hoard of Natives you have there. The black PE Native I is my favourite 'regular' Native, whilst the PE Native III is my favourite for EDC purposes. Actually didn't realise that the Tan OIF was a Native II ....thought it was a Native I !!!! There ya go, you DO learn something new every day

Well done, best wishes on completing/ continuing the hoarding.

....Sal.... Can we have a black bladed Native III in PE mode please :P I'm sure you'll sell them even faster than the Pink ones
    Cheers

    Very nice collection of natives!

I would like to echo Peter's question:

Does both your inlaid Natives have a number on the blade?

It looks like there is a number on the blue shell inlay but at the angle the photo was taken you can't see it. I say this because if you look, there doesn't appear to be any markings indicating the blade steel either. The only other possibility is it's a sterile blade.

OK, took my Natives out today and fondled them. They need that human touch now and then you know. Anyways for Peter1960 here are the numbers that I have:

Spyderco Native II, C41GPI, G-10, Blue Shell Inlay, PE, #239 of 500

Spyderco Native II, C41GPSI, Rootbeer Shell Inlay, #045 of 500

    Thanks, OTS!

It would have been an extreme rarity if it turned out to be a Sterile blade.

    OTS:

Are you also collecting them by blade steel varieties? In other words, for the C41PBK you could get it in GIN-1, CPM440V and CPMS30V, etc., etc,

Native American, I wasn't going to but I may change my mind. Not too fond of serrated blades but I have a couple because the particular models only came with serrations. Looking for a blue G-10 PE model. Another hard one to come by.

In my experience tracking down C41s, I found that I had a tougher time getting my hands on a C41PBK with the newer CPM440V blade steel than I did finding one with the older GIN-1 blade steel. And then of course with the CPM440Vs you've got a variety with the Boye dent and one without. Lots of collecting possibilities! Enjoy the pursuit!
