    Sorry, Allen.

I'm 100% in agreement with Paul on this. The Spyderco Forum's limited scope and self policing keep it tame and civilized. We share a mutual appreciation and behave pretty much with mutual respect here. If we expanded to include our own open sub-forums as on USN, CPF, Busse Forums, BFC or even my scubaboard forum, we would experience some of the same pack mentalities stalking there. In these dark and wild recesses, the warnings are posted. Lawrence Springarn's advice should be taken to heart.

I remember when you were banned from Forum B. Until you began posting on the sub-forum in question I recall your posts as being well intentioned, thought provoking, and courteous. When you chose to enter more treacherous waters, then, you got as you gave. I will freely admit that I felt several others exceeded the accepted standard but the owners and their moderators have the ultimate decision making authority. Publicly chastising the owner and his moderators did not help one's case - nor will fanning the dying embers from an old, neaarly forgotten fire across forums.

Life is too short to waste on petty recriminations. Keep your head up and move on. I believe Kipling's "IF" was posted recently. Words to live by.............

i've always felt like bashing someone on a forum is like displaying your insecurities for all the world to see.

as is getting too upset by internet bashing.

one drama leads to another, and then to another, and then it never ends!!!! might be an appealling cycle to some folks... including girls i've dated , but certainly not to me.

i've got enough drama in my life, living over the trail of the lonesome pine theater office as i do...

i come to forums to read about knives -- spyderco knives -- and that's it!!!!

allen, i'd just forget about it, and get on with the regularly scheduled program... SPYDERCO KNIVES!!!!!!!

I walked the plank at a forum, but really who cares. It was fun while it lasted!

Well, why aren't you whining about it?

For the record, I had nothing to do with AET's mistreatment elsewhere. Didn't even know about it. I don't frequent those waters.

Yes well I took the 6 week course at "Rex Kwon Do" before he issued my bunny slippers.

Can you imagine getting kicked in the head while I'm wearing these bad boys?

Funny thing, though....when we met in person, this fellow had nothing to say at all. No "I'm-in-charge" comments or persona. Meek and mild as a baby lamb.

Once he got back behind the computer monitor, Billy Bad-ass ruturned, and he was, once again, the guy in charge. But....he and I knew who was for real, and who was the lamb. And that's all that matters.

Being a real-deal guy in the real world, to me, means everything. He can have his cyber-battleground, along with his cyber-balls and cyber-bravado, because it means nothing in the real scheme of things.

Most of those people on those forums have no life, so they have to make one up online to be someone. What a pathetic existance.
Ya know what's great? I feel pretty much the same way about the majority of people in their vehicles on the roads! "Billy or Jilly bad-ass" behind the wheel, and very meek and wheeny-like in person.

I don't pay much attention to insults I get on the forums. Who knows, maybe the idiots are having a bad day?

I was into online gaming pretty hardcore for a few years - now there are some brutal forums. Online gaming forums are a lesson in how to insult, provoke, and generally antagonize your fellow mankind. Flaming & Hi-jacking threads are raised to a artform.

I don't miss that at all.

I have noticed it becoming a lot more common at BF, and as such visit a lot less frequently - I don't get online to be stressed.

I totally agree with Halfneck. I was into MMOS HARDCORE from 4/04 until 8/06, and it just got awful in the folums related to them. Though I tend to think that at 40, I was quite a bit older than most of the RPG'rs out there, so my expectations of behavior are higher.

But being new to this Forum, I must say it is quite different from most forums I have been on--I was just thinking last week that in the 3 months or so I have been here, I've not seen even ONE fight! ...And members always seem to be respectful of other members...it is just weird! (but in a good way!)

It is quite a breath of fresh-forum air!
There isn’t any symbolism. The sea is the sea. The old man is an old man. The boy is a boy and the fish is a fish. The shark are all sharks no better and no worse. All the symbolism that people say is ****.

Older than most RPGrs or not, I have a friend who is 22 and he bitches constantly about the **** that goes on in those forums as well. He's a huge WOW player. He made me go to Wal-Mart with him the night the expansion came out in January so he could get it at midnight. Anyway, yeah, so, it's not just you being older and expecting better behavior. I hear it's just a pain in the ass in general.

I have noticed this too. I no longer post much on any forum and I have decided to have more real world interaction instead of using online forums so much.

Your Rex Kwon Do is no match for my Smo Kwon Mo!

Challenge me to a fight over something inconsequential? Smo Kwon Mo, pal!

Worked up because I enjoy my Arnis and don't care that your art is more deadly/real-world/practical/authentic/your choice here? Smo Kwon Mo, buddy boy!

Can't stand that I won't buy into any argument until someone can back it up with facts and an explanation instead of a list of folks who do buy into that argument? Prepare to face my hidden art of: Smo Kan Oddawunn!

    And now I'm craving Doritos....

I have great respect for Kristi Hunters abilities to moderate on this forum and keep it a considerate place to communicate and share our interests. She pays very close attention and does a very good job in dealing with inappropriate behavior. Thank you Kristi and all those that participate in quality and consideration...Take Care...Ed

Hey Doc, something I have noticed about Martial Arts Practitioners since my 1st experience with them in a TKD club in college at FSU many years ago--the best ones NEVER argue their 'style' or skill level is the great--the fact that they know what they themselves are capable of is enough for them. A rule of thumb for me is the more a MAP brags, the less likely he is any real martial threat.
...and anyone who disagrees with me is looking for a spinning back kick in the chin!
