    Delica 3 forever ????

    Greetings you all

    It's just the strangest thing

I have quite a lot of high end Spydies, but my Delica 3/SE always seems to find it's way into my pocket and stays there for quite a while.

I have Spydies that fit my big mitt much better(Dodo, Police Endura4, Mili to name a few) but every time I flip open my Delica3 something happens. I guess I just feel comfortable with this blade.

The simple design (just a very sharp, pointy blade) the thinness of it and the relative NKP friendlyness. When I clip this knife to my pocket, I feel ready to go everywhere and do anything.

So I'm curious, what's your "magnetic" knife?

For me that would be the Ladybug with Carbon Fiber handle’s. I have it on me for years now, and although I do carry other knives, this one has cut more rope, boxes, tape, carpet, tie-rips and more then any of my other knives (maybe together with my Wenger Professional). On top of that it is IMHO the NKP friendly champion. The only thing I dislike about it is the fact some idiot damaged the back of the blade a little with a magnesium stick. I have to look at that fool every day … in the mirror.

Goeiemiddag Ronald en Tienes, yes the D3 was my first Spydie, though that one is a PE.
It became the razorsharp blade that is allways with me, and with a tip sharper than a needle.
Easy to carry but cuts everything effortlessly, from tomatoes to wrist thick manilla rope.
The serated D3 I got as a present from Arend.
It's living proof of what a Spyderedge is capable of, and that is a lot.
Overall the Delica is a powerfull package without frills and the D3 is like that well worn but o so comfy pair of blue jeans to me.

Maybe it's like with your first girlfriend: you'll never forget her and she always keeps a special place in your heart.. that's not magnetism I'm afraid... it's love.....

Nothing wrong with being loyal to a time tested model spydutch , it is my wifes favorite along with her 79mm Rescue . A few weeks back she "discovered " my Spyder Q in the cabinet . She said what a cute little knife how long have you had this one ? Faint hint that she would like to have it - sweet dilemma .

My old 1st generation SE Delica was my beater knife for a long time, till I gave it to a fellow soldier in need of a good knife. By the time I looked at replacing it the Delica 3 was the current model. The Delica 3 just never felt as good to me in the hand.

Thankfully the new Delica/Endura 4s feel great to me. My BRG SE ZDP-189 Delica 4 is my work EDC and it's doing great. My PE Endura 4 is my around the house beater EDC.

Trying to fall in love with my SE ParaMilitary, but the stupid sharp edges on the clip are nagging at me. Looking like I will need to buy some different grits of sandpaper and solve that myself.

    Howdy Arend!

One knife I just keep going back to is the Cento 4.

It's not the most expensive or fanciest, it doesn't have a choil, it's FRN...

It just works, and works well!

Another one I've grown quite fond of is my PE Atlantic Salt, I've come to use it (and dull it ) daily at work, it's my companion now.

There's just something about a knife you spend time bonding with, you develope a "friendship" with it I guess.
Proverbs 16: 9 In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.

When you've got a Delica and a Dodo, everything else is just eye-candy!

    Thumbs up

My waved D4....it's the only knife that is in my pocket(LF), every single day no matter where I go...unless of course I'm flying!!!

It gets paired with several spyders, but always keeps its place.

My PE Native seems to always find my pocket. I would feel naked without it.

i still find myself carrying my tasman SE (IWB) and PE SS dragonfly (in my watch pocket) more than any other knife...

others that get more than their fair share of pocket time:
    -- jess horn ZDP
    -- CF mili S30V
    -- lately, the full-sized persian!!!

Well, it's funny. I've owned many Spydies and I always seem to go back to the Delica. Right now I mean the Delica 4.

However as of late I've been missing the first Spyderco I ever bought. It was a plain edge Scorpius. That's what started me on the Spyderco frenzy. I'm about ready to buy another Scorpius to satisfy my need to get back to basics with the first one I ever owned.

    Delica 3 rulz ;)

Hi Arend. I understand you perfectly. A SE Delica III (slightly modified) was my trusty EDC for a few years. It would still be if it weren't the Adventura, which took its place. However, I find myself coming back to the "Dialica" now and then. It is the best lightweight knife I could ask for

SS Endura does it for me, as hard as I try, after 7 or so years, there is nothing I have found I like better. The new Stretch may be the next serious contender though.

Delica 3 shape is a classic shape I love and still enjoy on my Salt(s)...
truth is one clipit I keep coming back to is the (surprise) Delica4!
whether its Foliage Green, Black, or British Racing Green....I like to carry it clipless....and I love the 3d texturing pattern of the D4's FRN......
    This one I don't EDC....
