_______ Would be perfect in BG42!

    Sal on B/F:

We've got more on order (very long lead time), but we've haven't decided what to make out of it. I don't want to hijack this thread, but if anyone into Spyderco has thoughts on this, perhaps we could get a thread going on the Spyderco forum in Mfrs?

    sal

IMO, I'd love to see the R2 ( one of the most perfect blade shapes & size I've ever had) in BG42. I don't care if it's G10, CF, or FRN. The R2 grips as they are would do. The R2 blade is one of the blades that to me is closest to perfection I've used.

2nd choice is probably a Paramilitary. Another good one.

Navigator 2 in BG42 is a far away dream of mine too. I won't hold my breath.

Thank you Sal. Whatever comes out of this and is chosen will be a great knife. Joe

I think it was mentioned on BF that the "candidates" for BG-42 should be limited to Golden made knives, since shipping the steel to Japan would be less practical. Full flat ground Native, sans swedge grind, might be interesting.

I'm with Paul on this one. A Native. Flat grind would be nice. Do it in G10 with the original BFC Native construction. Linerless, No Dent. I was just admiring my sons user the other day. It is still a very nice knife. Make it in colored G10 and I'd but a couple dozen.

That would be fine by me Chris. Keep it all screw construction, again like the original BF Native, too. All screw construction seems to be in vogue these days, not to mention that it would make having the G-10 replaced with stablized wood easier.

A flat ground BG42 Native with colored G-10 scales would be sweet.

I haven't had much luck with my Natives so far. Both I had devellopped too much play to my liking.

However, if Spyderco can make this one absolutely play free, I would settle for a Native as well.

Black G10 handle, no Boye Dent(not only for Paul, but for me as well) wire clip and:

    FULLY SERRATED of course

Preferably teeth to the very tip

Thumbs up BG-42 is perfect for a few Spyders

The original, Flat Grind, G-10 Police model would be my first pick for a new BG-42 release. Second I think an original C-54 big Calypso in that steel would be so appropriate.

I am also thinking that it might be a superb blade steel for the Bob Lum C-46 Tanto folder.

I know, I know I get really sentimental about some of the GOLDEN ERA Spyders. But some of you do too and just won't admit it. Felly you don't count

Yes. I would love to see a native with a fancy steel, or a nav 2 .

Or, maybe even a dodo? I know, I'm dreaming...

ParaMilitary in BG-42 with Peel-Ply CF scales.

I also think a CoPilot would be pretty cool in BG-42.

Will just repeat one point - Sal has said the knife will be made in Golden, which, realistically, limits the choices to models that are, or were, manufactured there.

Would also note that it might be nice if this time around a full ambi model were chosen, rather than one with a handed lock.

ok, I'll throw in a vote for a Plainedge Bg42 UKPK with all Screw constuction.....with a Backlock (i know it's now a Caly3)....and keep the G10 handle but a different color would be nice....
    now it's a Golden Caly3!....

Well, I see two potential ideas.

One would be to go the ZDP-189 route and use it on a popular, but relatively inexpensive knife. Of the Golden made knives, the Native looks to be the best option. A BG-42 Native would provide a great oppurtunity for the public to try the steel out at a reasonable price.

The second option would be to use it on a brand new model noone's seen before, as an extra selling point. Not sure if people would see it as a "downgrade" or not. A little more risky than the first option.
