    Question about the "Lil Temperance"

I've been watching eBay for a good deal on a Lil Temperance (hopefully below $150) and was wondering what blade steel they were made in.

I know CPM-S30V is one. Were there any VG10 and 440V?

Anyone have the scoop on this?

Also, are they going to be made again? I do hope so, as I see them as a great looking knife (which I'd like to have a few).

Yup, mine is 440V (a.k.a. S60V), the later ones were S30V. They were all made in Golden, Co. so no Japanese steel (VG-10).

Sal has mentioned a Lil' Temp 2, but it seems to be quite a way down the road.

I got mine fairly cheap in used condition with no box. Since I am not a collector, and wanted one to use, that was fine with me, but it did require a bit of patience. I must have watched a dozen go by before I snagged that one. Good luck!
I don't believe in safe queens, only in pre-need replacements.

Thanks for the reply. I also want one to carry so "mint" condition is not a factor. Wouldn't mind having a couple extra in mint.

From what I've gathered, 440V is going to be scarce and maybe even collectible.

From what the reps for CPM (the steel makers) told JD Spydo at the last blade show, 440V/S60V is now history, which means it will probably be collectible. That is a real shame, because so far it is making a good work blade. I really hate competing with people who want to lock them up instead of using them when I buy knives. Of course, it is kind of fun to see their reaction when they see me using my collector's item for work.

Say YAB have you or any of you as far as that goes heard as to whether the newly proposed Lil Temperance II is going to be a Golden Colorado knife or not? I heard from one source that it is going to be a GOLDEN knife with Crucible Steel.

You make a good point about what I stated a couple of days ago about 440V ( S-60V) becoming extinct. Because that guy I talked to from Crucible seemed like he really knew the score on that one. Other than it being a nightmare to sharpen when it is seriously dinged up I think that 440V was a much better blade steel than a lot of people gave it credit for. It was just overshadowed by S-30, VG-10 and a couple of others that the Great Spyder Factory made famous.

But mark my words>> 440V and ATS-55 blades will be an object of collectivity within 2 to 3 years from now. And really some of these blade are already disappearing quickly.

one last request:: Let's resurect the LIL Temperance>> it is deserving of it. By the way where is Worker #9 and the other Lil T fanatics. They have been strangely silent during this time of transition
Long Live the SPYDEREDGE Spyderco Hawkbills RULE!!
