So this past weekend, I was with my fiance in the local Walmart, and had to look at the knife counter. I've been contemplating the purchase of my first fixed-blade knife, and I've had my eye on the Moran Featherweight, but it was too small for my liking. So, at the Walmart this weekend, the Buck NightHawk 655 Short caught my eye. After handling it, I knew it fit my criteria for a first fixed-blade. The blade is just over 5 inches, partially serrated, with black oxide coating in a spear-point configuration. The handle is Zytel, with a Kraton-like insert at the top for the thumb, and at the handle for the grip. It is a full-tang of course, and the blade looks to be 1/4 inch thick. A very heavy duty knife that is the perfect size for large cutting chores, yet not too big to be unwieldly. It carrys well around back in its sheath. Does anyone else here have one of these?
