    zdp-189 got it sharp

Just reprofiled the delica zdp-189 a little with my new diamond triangels 204d at a 30° angel, and then followed normal procedure on the sharpmaker with the ceramic rods; 4x20. under a 30° degree angle. It is so sharp now that when touching the edge it actualy bites. Diamond is the way to go with zdp-189. Off course don't want to use it to much diamond because it eats the steel like candy

Yeah i finally gave in and bought some diamond triangle rods too...no ZDP but for reprofiling S30V. Should have bought them a long time ago, it's so much easier to do diamonds at 30 then just touch up the final bevel with the fine stones at 40.

I use the Edge Pro for reprofileing, very accurate. Not as fast as diamond, but the high quality waterstones last a very long time.
Now I don't have Sharpmaker diamonds, but my past experence with diamond is they cut real well, but soom wear (or disappear)and leave you wanting.
This is only an option, should you want to try something else later.

    Exclamation IT bites for Sure

"Powercut" is not kidding when he makes reference to fact that a sharp ZDP-189 blade literally bites into whatever you are cutting. I literally use hardly no effort when I cut something with my ZDP-189 Calypso Jr. I got a finger on my left hand that will attest to that

But the sharp edge properties on ZDP-189 are phenomenal to say the least. I have personally never had a blade steel that shows the ease of penetration of a surface like ZDP-189 does.

A little testimony to what I did to my ZDP-189 blade this morning is that I took the gray ( medium) stones on my 204 at 40 degrees. I did about 10 strokes on both sides of a blade that was already relatively sharp. It really blew my mind how that blade bites after using the medium stones. Then I took and stroped it with a home-made leather strop and let me tell you I now know the WEBSTER'S definition of "scary sharp".
Long Live the SPYDEREDGE Spyderco Hawkbills RULE!!
