UK Doctors unhappy with "Pointy" knives.

Thought this article from the BBC was rather interesting. What will they "BAN" next?

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/4581871.stm

Note the picture of the guy in the article with the stitches. It looks more like a slash wound to me than a stab wound.

Oh, and Happy B'day to Queen E. I hope the Royal Guards took her and hubby out to the local pub for some fish and chips and a pint to celebrate the occasion.

Shouldn't this be in the "Off Topic" forum?
First they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not stand up, because I was not a Trade Unionist.

That is kind of old news. It has been purpose a few times in the past. It hasn't happened yet and I doubt it will happen.

I guess they gotta keep bringing it up until it does pass though...

It appears that the article is from a year ago.

    Stab wound?

I agree that the wound in question looks like it could have been caused with a hobby knife. I think the person would be hard pressed to tell their tale if they were stabbed in the temple with the knife in the picture.

    I resemble that remark.

People's habits, misfortune or stupidity keep most doctors in business. Knives with points are way down on the list. I think there are a lot more injuries with power tools than knives, at least in this country.

British docs complain cause they are not getting paid for the extra work sent their way by the corner street thug. A salaried person usually wants to maximize their pay per unit work ratio. If you can't get paid any more, you try to figure out ways to work less. It is human nature, even for those with a decent work ethic. An inner city doc in the US likely won't get paid by the average knife or gunshot victim either. Specialists are leaving hospitals in droves in this country so they are not vulnerable to having to sacrifice time spent with paying clientele in order to care for difficult patients with bad problems and no insurance.

I personally have cared for thousands of uninsured patients in my career so far and will have to continue to do so due to the nature of my practice. I consider it part of the deal I have with society. I do resent caring for those patients who show no gratitude nor apprectiation for the services provided and continually demand either undue drugs or attention.

That article had me in stitches It really is like that over here. You can still go into a shop and buy a live katana but shhhh don't tell the government...

Oh really dumb question now, whats the difference between a flick knife and a gravity knife?

Sounds like these doctors have too much free time on their hands. Maybe they should get a sandwich,,,Chercher les femmes,,,,play golf,,,,,anything but laws/policy.

I think a gravity knife you press a button and the blade falls out under gravity. Where as a flick knife you press a button and a spring pushes it out.

Hope that helps........................as they are both illegal over here
