Got a new knife for Valentines!!!

My awsome girlfriend totally surprised me today with a Benchmade Stryker 910! I thought she wanted to have nothing to do with knives and she surprises me with this beauty, can't wait to get pictures up. The Stryker has a 154CM tanto blade, G10 handles with titanium liners and a disc opener (I like the disc opener MUCH more than a thumbstud, but not more than the Spydie hole)
Spyderco is my favorite knife company. Having said that, every Benchmade I have handled has had better fit and finish, and smoother action out of the box. The Stryker has ZERO blade play, and locks up super smooth and solid. The tanto blade has a straigt cutting edge giving it all the benefits of a wharncliff, but with the added bonus of a tip. The tanto has two points, one on the tip, and another at the meeting of the two edges. This is awsome bacause you have two sharp points to bite into things, like opening boxes and such.
The handle is the exact same length has my Para, but the blade is over half an inch longer. The full titanium liners make it feel SOLID, but I do prefer Spyderco's G10. I am really impressed with the fit and finish on this thing, much better than my Para. It is a real toss up of which knife I will prefer, Para Vs. Stryker. Only time and EDCing will tell.

    Ergonomics: Para
    Fit and finish: Stryker
    G10 feel: Para
    Blade play (lack of): Styker
smoothness: It's a tie, but the Para is broken in and the Stryker will only get smoother.
    Blade shape: Para

    Aloha Texas Guy,

Congrats! The Stryker was one of my favorite Elishewitz designs...however, be careful with that one! I had one of the original AT34 models when they first came out, and when I was replacing it into RFP, I noticed a "shimmer"...it was the blade going through my pocket!!! Cripes, any closer and...well, let's just say I was thankful that I already had my daughter!

I was amazed at how sharp that knife was...I felt the clip going onto my pocket seem like "normal"...didn;t even feel the blade going through my pocket!

God bless, and monitor that pivot!!!

Congrats on the Stryker Texas guy! I've always heard great things about BM's fit and finish, but I just can't bring myself to buy one

Hey TG, CONGRATS ON THE STRYKER. Like DAYWALKER stated, keep an eye on the pivot. I have one of the originals, and had a similar incident. Yep, pocket had a Nice Slice in it. I didn't even notice, until I felt the cold blade next to my leg . Apparently what happened was the blade worked loose, and acted similar to a seatbelt cutter from my prior use. Be CAREFUL and Enjoy my friend. Take Good Care.

    God Bless

YIKES Thanks for the heads up guys! And I thought tip down was safer but I would rather cut my hand on a tip up than cut my... well, you know...
My Para will probally see most of the real cutting, I will always have a soft spot for my first and favorite Spydie. I'm having an awsome knife week, got my Stryker, and UPS is dropping off my blue Dodo PE today! I am going to borrow a digital camera soon and get some pictures up, I've also been promising CKE I would get some pics of the fixed blade I got from him up too. BTW, when I got my new knife the first thing I said was "I can't wait to tell the guys about this!" The guys meaning my Spydie forum buddies

Congrats Texas guy. Sounds like a great girl. Looking forward to the pics.
First they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not stand up, because I was not a Trade Unionist.
