    MP3 Players

    Alright,
So i was given an MP3 player a few days ago. My sister never had much use for it and said if you want it its yours. So i took it, and now im attempting to put music on it. Just wondering if anyone has any experience w/ RIO MP3 players and the music manager it comes w/ and can offer me some advise. Also does anyone know if it will take other types of memory cards. The model i have is a Red Rio Forge Sport 128MB.

Here is some more info on it.

Here is the memory card they sell for it.

SD and MMC cards fit the same size slots(at least according to my 8-1 card reader), look around on ebay for a decent price.

I only paid around 40cad for the 128mb card to plug in my mp3 last year. The reader was found in staples for cheap a while ago(back when I got my digital camera and usb 1.1 was still big, hows that for a history lesson ).

as far as the drivers and software, it's usually easier to just use the card and a reader.

I have software for my mp3 player(classic mp6410) if I can get it working. had problems with it before I formatted my system a couple weeks ago, haven't tried to put it back in yet.

Why do people worry more if you argue with your voices than if you just talk with them? What about if you lose those arguements?
Slowly going crazy at work... they found a way to make the voices work too.

I have the Rio Forge and use it most for audiobooks, great resume and bookmarks. The Music Manager will search your system and find all your music and then you can select what to put on your player. It puts it on the internal or the memory card as it sees fit. You can make playlists with the software.

I don't use the software. I just drag and drop what I want from Windows onto the drive letter that is recognized when you plug it into the USB slot. One for the internal memory and one for the card. This way I can load up a card with a long story and put music on the internal memory. I can listen to a story, bookmark it and go listen to some music and then later go back to the spot I left off in the story.

When you drag a bunch of stuff onto the Forge and then remove it from the USB it will automatically read the ID3 tag info and create a database for itself and you can access your music by title, album, artist, genre or any other catagory in your ID3 tags.

One thing though, if it ever freezes up on you (twice for me) just remove the battery and wait 20-30 minutes and it will reset itself. I almost returned it as defective until I found this item out (not in the documentation)

I use mine daily and love it.

only uses SD or MMC cards up to 1GB
