    Yet another variant for collectors...

...just helped out a fellow forumite by forwarding a C83 Persian to them. Went to put some styro peanuts in the box with it and, lo and behold, Spyderco moved Ed Shempp's mark to the right side of the blade and put one of those little gold "bugs" that seem to be cropping up on everything lately on the left side.

    Question

Does that mean you'll get a cc#'d version, Paul?

Doubt that Mike, but I probably will get a couple un-numbered ones, one for the collection and one to have re-scaled along with one of the 75mm ones. When it comes to the Persian, any excuse to buy one is good enough for me.

Is this the only documented one? Or a permanant change? My collector mind works overtime on stuff like this. When I was a Ruger fanatic, stranger things left the factory in ones and twos.

Ah, greencobra, that IS the question. Appears that you saw through my attempt to see if anyone else would corroborate this change, or, if possilbly, I just let something choice slip through my fingers. Time will tell I guess.

And, assuming it is "official" I've pretty well decided to pair one of them up with one of the new 75mm ones, and have them customized with matching stabilized wood grips. Hard part is deciding what wood to use. Chuck Bybee at Alpha Knife has such an selection to choose from that I'm like a kid in a candy store and can't make up my mind.

Why wont bing out knives with scales that do something to a
mans heart. The real stuff like stag, bone, nice wood etc.
I know that many of you like the high tec handle materials but to an old world
man like me they don't bring happiness in my soul. Why allways the talk about
cost while there are $50,- knives with stag scales. knives are not the cheapest knives around. I think there are more people like me who want to pay "some" more for " warm scales".
