    What the ??? SpydeRench related

So, on a lark, I went to that famous auction site and did a search for Spyderench. There is one for sale.

Someone asked the seller the condition and he said it was new.

In fact, he says, "I am the designer of the SpydeRench and in conjunction with Spyderco have been personally finishing this last batch of tools from my shop in California. The tool is new. It comes with instructions, but does not have a box. Thanks for your interest in the 'Rench and Good Luck! Marty Beck".

    What's up with that?

Sounds like a load of crap to me.

I have no experience with the wrench but, I'm pretty sure they weren't made in California and it was designed in house. I'd love to hear some history about it.

Marty Beck is the original inventor of the Rench. He is, as he said, putting together the last of the castings. If you can get one, it will probably be a good one.

His "day job" is a rocket scientist, for real.

At first I had the same reaction as Sckusloa but...that's rather interesting Sal.

I wonder how many he will be selling? I wouldn't mind picking 1 or 2 up

Beck has been doing that for few years IIRC. There have been a couple threads in the past asking the same question. I would be curious how many more complete part sets he has and how long he will be doing this.

I apologize to the rocket scientist, if he ever sees this.

I should not be so quick to speak.

This guy is the real deal! I met Marty and his family a few years ago. They were very hospitable and their dogs were very friendly as well (one is also pictured on the ebay auction). He also has a pretty extensive Spyderco knife collection. We talked for a few hours and it was extremely entertaining.

Spyderco knife collector on a Q quest! Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!

    Wink I can attest

I have personally done 3 Ebay transactions with Marty Beck and I can say that he is an A-1 guy. He is who he says he is. He is very honest, a man of his word and I was very satisfied with all the dealings I have had with him. I would not hesitate in any way, shape or form to recommend him to anyone else on this Forum. The 2 Spyderenchs I got from him were both in top notch condition and delivered well packaged and speedily. Great guy in my book. JD O
