In the discussions of the PITS folder, a couple of things stood out.

    1. The back spring fits into a depression on the spine of the blade, providing resistance to closing. But when you grip the knife, the pressure of your hand on the spring helps to hold it closed as well.

    2. The little tab that you see near the choil actually sticks out of the top of the handle when closed. A lot of folks think it is a flipper - and while it can be used for this, its primary purpose is to provide protection for your fingers when open. It prevents the knife from folding up while your fingers are in harms way.

    3. The original collaboration version made by Mike Read had the holes in the scales filled with black G10, giving it a polka-dotted look. Kinda cool, but they G10 seems to be gone in the latest prototype.

So there's a spring on both sides contacting the tang. That's really interesting.

More likely there's a rod or roller that rides on the tang sandwiched between the springs built into handle slabs.

Sadly, it does nothing for me...it's a cool design. But not one that I think would work for me. That little "flipper" seems sort of...in the way.

I find it elegant and would need to handle one to be sure.

I would second that, doesn't really do it for me either.

I really liked that original version too, sadly only myself & Mike seemed to like the G10 inserts.

I have no doubt that this knife will be a big seller even so, for those of us who can't legally EDC a locking knife, this is going to be the next best thing.

I thought that Earthman, but when I see the number, I try to be courteous. Must be a glitch in the system?

Looks like Ohcyclist is also new. Welcome.
