    Question Goddard question

Know the large micarta Goddard was made primarily in CE. Have hear that a few PE ones also exist. However, up till last weekend, cannot recall ever seeing or hearing rumors of one in SE. Now I know they exist , so the question becomes how many were made?

    Deacon,
I don't know the answer to your question, but I share your desire to know the "little things" like the number of a model/edge combo produced, but regarding all the Spyderco models. That's why I want to help to make a database for Spyderco to use, they can own it, that contains all of this data, and that they could add to their website for technical data. I am awaiting a call from Spyderco in the near future to discuss the possibilities with them, and will keep the forum up to date when I know more. Keep in mind, it's mostly my desire to know the knife info that's motivating me to do this, but also for the greater community to use as well. Historical data is something I think is missing from a lot of company websites, and it is always helpful to know the older model info, especially for those folks who hang onto things for a long time, and like to research their specs before upgrading to something new. Good luck in finding the answer!

Paul, it's in the 1993 catalog also - only as a picture though, it's not mention in the listed items.

Me too Ted, every time I "think" I know "a little something" about these knives, something comes along to shatter the illusion. Steel is GIN-1 (marked as G-2) which would put it in the period of that catalog.

Mike, if you have not found it already, you might want to check out THIS THREAD of Ted's. I'd suggest bookmarking it and checking back occasionally, am sure all the consumer catalogs will be available as PDFs eventually.

Thanks for the info Paul! Yeah, I love Ted's page of All Spyderco Models...I open it at least once day. Thanks Ted!

My oldest Catolog is from 1997, it will be great to see the earlier ones.

cyberhawk, that's a rare PE C18 you have there!

DB, I'm awaiting just a few more pages for the 1993 & 1994 catalogs from 'b-elliott' who was so kind to scan them! - Lot's of nice info in there. For example the C32PS 'Spur' has no name yet, it's '(Unnamed)

    Paul, thanks for the 'plug'

Hi Cyberhawk, that's just what my group of micarta Goddards looked like this time last week Get the impression that, although rare compared with the CE version, the PE C18 is either more common or less treasured than the PE C16. Assuming you didn't snag it on eBay about four months back), yours is the fourth one I've seen, including my own. On the other hand, I have yet to see so much as a photo of a PE micarta C16 or C20.

    Ted,
Sal must have really agonized over naming that one, it's still labeled as "unnamed" in the '94 version of the catalog.

    Goddards

Paul, I've had mine for about 8-9 years. I've also never seen the large mic. in a plain edge. I prefer the lightweight for edc anyway, and of course have several in different variations, rotating with Millie and now Manix.

Hey Sal, when is the small Manix coming out, like the one you showed us at the SFO sale? Hawk

Hi Hawk, Welcome to the Spyderco forum.

The small Manix that I showed you was a production piece. I would expect to see them shipping some time next month.

Ted, I'd love to see them too, and Sal is more than welcome to post the 80mm Manix pictures right here in this thread but I'm really just using that offer as an cheezy excuse to bump it to the top in hopes SOMEONE from Spyderco might have some numbers on SE Micarta C16s.
