    ? about Mohair

i was wondering if anyone had ever used this to make lanyards/fobs? if so how well does it hold up? does it come unraveled? also is it pretty strong, or is it a bad choice for lanyards? thanks for the help.

Hi GS - Isn't Mohair for sweaters??? Never heard of anything else made out of Mohair except also stuffing upholstery with it. Is this a lack in my education?
For fobs and lanyards, I would stick to fermer stuff like leather, paracord, silver chain etc.

Jur, over here they use mohair a lot for high quality horse tack. Bridles, breastplates, cinches. Tough as nails, dries quickly when wet, and horses seem to like the smell of it. Was popular for upholstery on "mid price" automobiles back in the golden age too.

I would venture that if you like the "feel" of it, it would work fine for a lanyard or fob. Don't really care for that myself, to me it manages to feel soft and scratchy at the same time.

    thanks for the info guys,

deacon, i figured it was somthing different to try, and it is suppose to hold dye rather well. I intend on mainly using it on the knives i dont carry, but would like to put a fob on for my own entertainment.

Jurphaas, i first heard of mohair from a website that sells high quality braiding materials, and they say it is pretty tough. So i figured Id get some opinions around here, and based on that give it a try. Ill let you know what i think of it.
