    2 bad habbits

I have almost completly devoted myself to collecting 's, but on the other hand there are two other companies that i fancy and choose to collect when a model catches my eye. W R Case is one that i think all can agree on. i currently have 4, just got an old 2 blade hunter from my uncle. the brass is green and the blade has some rust, but w/ some tlc i think i can bring it back. the other company i have come to fancy other the last year or so is Puma. i love their stag bone handles and the overall look of their knives. i was just wondering what others had to say, and if i am not alone. as i said before i mainly buy spyderco but do dip into theese companys from time to time.

I absolutely love Puma knives as well, the quality in the modern ones is pretty dicey and the vintage ones cost an arm and a leg esp. in mint condition.

My favorite Puma is the Universal multi blade folder, maybe the nicest hunting folder ever made. It's heavy but the Universal can probably handle any game taken on the five continents. Also have a soft spot for the Medici swing guard.

    Talking Bad Habits?

    Good day, my friend.

I will generally only obtain knives from other manufacturers if Spyderco does not manufacture an equivalent. Contrary what one might think, it is not due to mindless, obsessive brand loyalty but due instead to my view of Spyderco as having the absolute best value for the money on the market. Why p*ss away too much money for lesser quality?

I have a couple of SAKs, and a Microtech Hawk Auto. I have an MOD Casillas Ladyhawk en route and might eventualy pick up the MOD Caracara. I will likewise hopefully obtain a byrd Crossbill soon. I have a few nondescript hawkbills (Boker, Klein, etc.) and gifted a close friend my Case equlivalent (forum member Barrabas on this board, if you are wondering ). As soon as the Tasman is available I will have one in PE (probably a matching set in PE/SE). I also intend to obtain a CF Harpy PE if possible, finances permitting, which is VERY up in the air right now.

So no, I don't consider it a bad habit to occasionally obtain knives from other manufacturers. After all, you have to have a basis for comparison to see just how wonderful Spyderco knives really are...

guideseries it is normal to have a little brand variation, I myself have a few Striders, some Busse fixed blades, leftover BM, and some other brands in small numbers, I have close to 50 spyders!!! I agree with the good Dr. that most of what I have spyderco does not really make something similar, or it is left over from my prespyderco days. So I would say it is normal. my three favorite brands are Spyderco, Busse, and Strider, and there is no shame in my game they are all good knives from great manufacturers!!!!! worker

    GS,
If you like slipjoints, you must, and I repeat must check out the Queens. They arent as much as the Case, and come with D2 blades. I have a Cocobolo Mid-hunter I'll have to show you some time. Beautiful.
First they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not stand up, because I was not a Trade Unionist.

im glad that im not the only one who enjoys a variety of companies, and as the doc said you have to be able to compare, compare and buy more spyderco. Ghostrider, i would love to see the mid-hunter the next time we meet. But i feel that you are trying to turn me on to another brand and get me in trouble. J/k. Thanks all for the great info as always.
