Ahhh... you're having the same problem I am! I'm thinking of going with either an all black or maybe a black and tan. I know, not very exciting! What ideas have you had so far?

Either plain foliage green or ACU (army digital camo pattern). Haven't decided yet. Still open to ideas...

Oh, I didn't even think of the ACU... what a great idea! Now to decide what kind of lanyard to go with!
I tied one of my skull lanyards in ACU on the Foliage green Delica I got my son for his birthday and looks great on it.

So where does everyone think might be a good place to sell these? I have a bunch that need homes but I don't really want to use ebay unless I have to.
For those of you wanting to buy or sell lanyards, there are plenty of places to buy them, and plenty of ways in which to sell them. This board isn't one of them. There are other forum boards that have Buy/Sell/Trade sections, and some people have even set up web sites.
A few of those boards would be CPF, BFC, USN, EDCF, and possibly Knifeforums. I am sure you could find others if you did some research.
There is no buying, trading, or selling openly on these boards. Solicitation of such is poor form.
First they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not stand up, because I was not a Trade Unionist.

I replied to Stormdrane in another forum in almost the same manner. I understand completely and don't want to seem as though I am coming here to sell. Just looking for ideas. I agree with open solictation being wrong and therefore wasn't saying, "Hey check out my website and buy something." To me, doing so is just as bad as people knocking on my door trying to sell products, can't stand it.Originally Posted by ghostrider

What a great thread! This thread got me interested in lanyards, particularly for my smaller knives that I carry loose in pocket. This is one of my first - I used the directions for the coil knot on the Chris Reeve website b/c it seemed quite easy. I plan to try some other fob varieties soon. A fob like this really improves the grip on small knives!

For me, hiding the ends is sometimes the hardest part of the whole process.Originally Posted by Kenny
What I have been doing lately is burying the ends in the piece. There are a few ways to do this but I have found the following to work, in most cases.
- Straighten a large paper clip, then fold it in half around a small rod (this makes a nice eyelet). set this aside for later.
- With a blunted awl or, better yet a marlin spike, starting at the base of the end you are going to bury, press your awl, or spike, into the piece for an inch or so and then angle the point out the side.
- What you are doing here is forming a little tunnel to bury the end in.
- You should have the Awl stuck in your lanyard for an inch and the point sticking out the side. Pull the awl out and insert the folded paper clip you made in step 1 so the eyelet emerges at the base of the cord you are going to bury.
- Insert the end of the cord you are going to bury through the eyelet and pull the folded paper clip and the cord through your piece and out the side.
- Repeat the above steps until all your cord ends are woven back into your lanyard and sticking out the side.
- Pull a cord tight and cut it near to the lanyard (if you are going to singe the end) of flush (if you aren't going to singe the end).
- You want to pull the cord tight enough to compress the lanyard slightly, if you can.
- Repeat for all the cords.
- Pull on the end of the lanyard so that the cord ends slip inside the lanyard.
- You're stretching the lanyard out so the ends get buried.
- You may have to poke them in.
- Done!
Your mileage may vary but this has worked nicely for most of the things I done recently.

Here are a couple things that I have attempted. Nothing too special but they were fun.
Split rings can be taken off to turn them into knife lanyards.

you did well; they are simple and well made and useful. Sometimes we get a little extravagant(me included) and they aren't as user friendly.

Decided that I would make myself something that I would actually use.
Inspiration goes out to Stormdrane. Hope you don't mind.
ID Lanyard for work. Might have to remake another from type I paracord when i have time. This maybe a little big but I think folks at work will get a kick out of it.
Colors are Coyote Tan and OD Gree (cobra knot).
Very nice job! I like it.![]()
I tried interweaving different colors a couple of times, but it wasn't working for me. There may be a specific method to do it, but I don't know how and I haven't seen anything online showing it either, YMMV.
Ive tried making a monkey fist for over a month know without any luck, guess im just gonna have to buy one :-).........
eschmunk ,
thanks for the info, i wasnt using paracord, i was to cheap to go out and buy it but this weekend i will definately go out and buy some, thanks again.......
I have looked with not much success for a company that sells paracord by the foot or in small increments. Does anyone know of a place that you can pick it up without buying it in 50 to 100 foot amounts? Thanks
