the answer may be somewhere in here but i don't have the time to be searching through 47 pages of posts i was wondering what the knot/braid/whatever is called on these knives? i have a monkey fist already and wanted to finish it to a loop with a knot like this. is that even possible? looks a bit like a hangman's knot but i'm not sure.

It would be helpful if you were a little more specific in your question, but I'll try to answer it anyway.

Most of the guys are finishing the loop on the Monkey's Fist with a Hangman's Noose. There are many different ways to finish it, and we seem to keep finding new one's. I personaly have used the Cobra Stitch, Cobra Twist, Square/Round Sinnet, Corkscrew Stitch, Alpine Whipping, and the Hangman's Noose.

FYI: Irish Lager had the foresight to start a thread where we could post information on different methods, instructions, and sources for supplies and info. I've linked it in my signature so people can see. If you have questions, that's a good place to look, and you won't have to go through all the pages on this thread. I don't think your question is answered there, but it is still a good refference.

    Any more questions, just ask.

    Hey kcardwel,
i was wondering if you could tell us where or post the link where you get your whistle and glow tabs for the pulls you make. Great work BTW.

Dedguy, welcome to the forums. Did you tie that monkeys fist, if so great work. Not too often you see them in leather. If not the whipping looks nice too.

As of late i made on Mini JFBF (orange and OD) and a Micro JFBF (orange and black). I will get pics up ASAP. Lots of things to share, so i cant wait for my camera to return.

Eddited to add: The monkeys fists for the 2 JFBF i made were provided by other members here.

Here's my modest collection of lanyards. I have neither the patience, time, or desire to tie these myself, so thanks again Stormdrane!

    Stormdrane,
Looking good, i just got some of the TAD GEAR glow cord the other night, and i have some ideas for it. Either way, nice work as always.

didn't notice this until now about where to get the glow pulls or whistles. you can get a few samples from ITW Nexus global http://www.itwnexus.com/catalog/inde.../a/7/c/17/p/95
and you can buy the glow pulls from mare in the usn forum at http://usualsuspect.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=15 you have to become a member of both nexus and the forum but no big deal. If you get samples from nexus be real careful you get both the body and the inside or else you may get just the whistle part or the outside part. The glow pulls come in two parts too called the male and female part. If you order from mare at usn though they know you need both parts.

You might also try using leather boot laces.

bloody brilliant! especially since they are much easier to come by, no slip waxed boot strings could also be nice for lanyards. thanks for the idea.

Alright, got my camera back today. So its time to play catch up...

The Green MF was provided by Ghostrider as a means to teach me the cobra stitch, i only finished the whipping on it.

The large orange fist was provided by CKE and the smaller one by Ghostrider, i only did the whipping on these.

The REI glow cord MF on my Tac Torch, and the orange king cobra on my C3 are from Ghostrider, the rest is my work.

Sorry for so many pics this time, but its been so long.

    Yeah Doc,
It is CF. potterma did a great job on it for me. As soon as I got it back from him in the mail, I decided to order some silver 550. I do wish it was better shade of silver to match the CF better, but I still like it.

    Thanks
