    Hello deeker,
If you look in my previous post (#479), you'll see a Monkey's Fist that is black with purple and light blue slashes in it. The light blue slashes are reflective, but not so much as other cords I've seen. I've been able to get cord with a reflective strand at EMS, and REI. The stuff I got at REI also had light blue, and tourquiose(sp?) slashes in it, as well as glow-in-the-dark.

Both of these have the reflective strip. I got them at EMS, and they are labled as Sterling Glo-Cord.

In this pic, the Glo-Cord is the green with black and white slashes.

Here's the stuff I bought at REI. It has a reflective strip, and is glow-in-the-dark. It's wrapped around the black, Wellington stuff I mentioned with the light blue and purple slashes. The REI cord may not look it in the pic, but it is more reflective than the Wellington.
First they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not stand up, because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Eliminate the ninnies and the twits! (Don't get me going on Devo...)

Great stuff in here- makes me wish I could tie these as well as y'all! The Cobra Twist is my fave, along with the Clip on/ Skull jobs by Stormdrane, as in this pic:

Made this incorporating a spent 300 Sav. casing. I kind of like it but let me know what the rest of you think.

    Thank you, ghostrider.

I will have to search on-line or wait til I get to the US again. No REI here in the Great White (and now cold) North.

    Cheers.

I thought of using 45s or most any hand gun cartridge. That would shorten the length of the lanyard some.

In addition to REI and probably other sources, I found my reflective cord at a small business in Duluth called dogbooties.com that sells musher hardware and fabrics (and dog booties) online:

I've done repeat business with this company and they have decent prices, prompt shipping, a good company.

    lol Stormdrane,
Sure would be tough threading it through a lanyard hole.

    Cool

What an incredible thread. I just spent the last 1 1/2 hours reading the thread from the beginning and was amazed. Looking at the progress some of you have made since the first post is amazing. I have played around with lanyards, but mostly the square and round patterns. I guess I will venture out to Hobby Lobby and Wally World to pck-up some supplies.

Will try to post pix soon.

    Thanks Irish Lager.

Been working with the Eight-Strand Square Plait/Sennit, the Four-Strand Plait/Sennit, and the Six-Strand Round Plait. The books I have say to use whipping for starting and finishing them off. Anyone have any ideas on different methods?

    Coffeeman:
If you have a Dick's Sporting Goods, you should check there. They took over Galyan's but aren't going to be selling climbing gear like Galyan's did. The one in my area still has some of the cord and rope left over from Galyan's and have marked it down ridiculously. I just bought 400 feet for less than $11.00 (that’s only about $1.00 over what I pay for 100 feet in town, and the internet is even more when you throw in shipping). It was priced at $.02/ foot. I’d recommend looking them up before any other source since it’s cheapest.

    Thanks Senate.

Didn’t have much time to make any new ones over the holiday. Most of what I did do was for my nieces who enjoy the lanyards, and I didn’t get any pics of them.

    Here’s a Eight-Strand sinnet and a mediocre King Cobra.

Here’s the Eight-Strand sinnet with the inner strands taken out, and another one with them left in. Recommend leaving them in. Still looking for a decent way to finish this one.

Some more King Cobra’s (some with lanyard knot) and some Twisted Fist’s.

I gotta learn how to do these! Looks like it would be complicated, any good websites to start with?
Proverbs 16: 9 In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.

When you've got a Delica and a Dodo, everything else is just eye-candy!

Well, you could read through this whole thread and take notes on every bit of information listed in it. The thread contains many good sources. However Irish Lager started a thread (Which I'll now BTT since you asked) that has some of the info compiled in it.

    http://spyderco.com/forums/showthread.php?t=18317

boondoggleman is a good one to start with (espicially for the sinnets), and so is folsom knots. Good luck and if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

The Square and Round sinnett are good places to start. It's not that they take a lot of skill, just a lot of work and patience. . The Monkey's Fist OTH takes more skill but isn't as much work IMO. YMMV.
