This is isn’t exactly a lanyard but, it is a “knife lanyard knot”. I positioned it so my pinky finger rest between the knot, and the “but” of the handle, “locking” my pinky in place. I also took the Clip off for an easy pocket ride.

First they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not stand up, because I was not a Trade Unionist.

dont have a camera but i have a lanyard that i normally keep on my native II, took it off and sent the knife back to the factory for sharpening, but its a hangmans noose and lanyard knot for easy access. I also use a stainless bead chain to connect my princeton tech pulsar to my dragonfly frn. basic but effective. if i can get access to a camera i will post a pic.

The all stainless Kiwi that spends its days on my computer desk sports a fob. Serves two purposes, makes the thin, slick knife easier to open, and helps me locate it amid the clutter on the desk.

A lanyard is essentially a cord attached to a knife to prevent loss and to better-facilitate acquisition of the blade in an emergency or tense situation.

(WARNING: Engage your sense of humor!)

I consider them largely to be annoying decorative hangy-down things on knives that get in the way and make my knife harder to open, use, and close.

Well, unless I am on the water, in which case I refocus a bit.

    Question More info????

I even have a couple of books on knots. But neither one of them have any information on Lanyards or Lanyard knots. Does anyone know of an information source. I would like to do several of my knives up with nice looking and functional lanyards. But I want to do them in "grand fashion". IF you know what I mean. Are there any websites on the subject. JD O

    They are FOBS!!!

    Main Entry: fob
    Function: noun
Etymology: perhaps akin to German dialect Fuppe pocket
    1 : WATCH POCKET
2 : a short strap, ribbon, or chain attached especially to a pocket watch
3 : an ornament attached to a fob chain

And here is one of mine - I only use them on small FBs now:

I've been considering doing one similar to this.

    http://dmcleish.com/spectra/index.html

Here is where you get the hardware, specifically the clip:
    http://www.berkeleypoint.com/products/tools/lankit.html
Note there are several sizes of clips ie the micro, mini, nano and Pica:
    http://www.berkeleypoint.com/product.../nanoclip.html

Books that show lanyard knots are Cliford Ashleys book of knots (note this is the difinitive book of knots and is not light reading)

    or anything by Geoffrey Budworth

    or Peter Owen

    Enjoy

    Thumbs up Fob

Here's a picture of the fob I put on my Kiwi. It makes it easier to get out of my watch pocket and makes the grip more secure. I put a similar fob on my micarta Jester except with flat leather lacing and the lanyard knot sits much better.

i don't have any pictures... but i've got slightly longish loops of cord going through the lanyard holes of my atlantic and pacific salt... i tie the cord through my belt loop when i'm out on a boat... that way i don't have to go swimming/diving to recover a dropped knife. it's saved me quite lot of frustration twice now...

other than that, my lanyard holes go unused.

    Hi everyone!
I'm new here, but I've been into Spydies for a long time.

I love these lanyards, they're so cool!
I'm really interested in learning the diamond knot and the Chris Reeve style loop.
Where do you buy the cord to make these lanyards? Is there a certain name for it? I just want a small section (a couple of feet) and not a mile of this stuff.
Are there any stores like Wal-Mart, or Sporting good stores that sell it?

    Thanks for any help.

well if you want Milspec its called paracord 550. that is what i use, but there really arent many colors. Just Black, Tan, OD and a few more. Nothing exotic and it will hyold 550lbs.

and you can get it here for
    http://countycomm.com/550cord.htm

    $6 per 100' hank

I ordered a Black and an OD. to make up for the $6 shipping.

if you want Colors, I would check out Tad gear
    http://www.tadgear.com/x-treme%20gea...n/paracord.htm

The stuff is more expensive and not as strong and is not Mil-Spec.

It does come in some nice and exotic colors. so if that is what you wnat, this is probrolly the best place.

When you get the Paracord, you tie it like this

    http://www.chrisreeve.com/knotright.htm

The Knots take practice to make, its not that easy.
