Talking Solingen Knifemakers Show - pictures

    Hello,

as the title says, I'll post a few pictures of the awesome knives I've seen last weekend. Of course all photos were made with permission.
It was a fine show as usual and my friend and I luckily were successful in keeping each other from spending a lot of money.

Enjoy the pictures and hopefully I'll meet some of you next year.
Feel free to post comments and questions.

    even more:
(Before anyone asks, the spyderhole in these knives is used under license by maker Kevin Wilkins - they're awesome. I used my Police for size reference.)

    still some more:
The first picture shows the running furnace for refining iron ore.
And you get to see the mobile fireplace of smith Fred Schmalz, who made damascus.

    the last batch:
It's always cool to watch Fred Schmalz at work, although the weather spoiled it a little. Too bad Peter Herbst didn't want to pose for a knife picture. His knives are excellent, though.
I met the man behind one of my favorite Spydercos!

That's all, hope you liked it.

Yeah, Kevin Wilkins makes some decent - sized knives.
Wouldn't one of those make a nice collaboration?

    Thanks!

Des Horn's knives alone could make up a long series of pics, the details are so numerous. Example: he loves to decorate the spine and the liners with intricate filework. It shows on the price tag...

Thank you for the photos. I love to see the hot steel being hammered and made into knives. Takes a lot of know how and skill plus years of practice. Lots of nice knives too.

    silverback,
Thanks for the pics. You don't know how tempted I've been to get one of Mr. Wilkins knives. Especially since he doesn't have to collect German Tax to sell to the US
