Any boxing fans out there? Toney-Ruiz tonite

It's sad but I'm actually looking forward to the fight tonight. The heavyweight division is a sham but still something about big guys pounding on each other that outshines the other weight classes. Kewpie doll for anyone who can actually name the four champs!

    Aloha!

Ahhh, I like boxing, but I prefer the lighter weight classes...

I'm with you, Daywalker! Heavy weight fights are impressive to watch but on the other hand quite boring compared to e.g. feather weight fights.

The more light weight boxers are just faster and their agility is much more fun to watch than two big guys who are more or less standing in front of each other and just moving a little bit to punch the other

I used to box too, but quit it after a year because I really hated it to be beaten on the head all the time during sparring lessons I can tell you that 2 or 3 jabs or hooks to the head can give you the worst headache of your lifetime if your opponent is MUCH better than you are

The training itself is probably one of the best you can get but watching somebody being knocked out is still more fun than to experiance it yourself

    Cheers, Rob

Red face Old Timer former Champ

Funny you all would start this thread. Last night I was flipping through the dial and saw Riddick Bowe fighting some no-name guy Tugstrom. I think that's what his name was. Riddick won the fight but he was not anywhere near the old Riddick Bowe who had those "barnburner" fights with Evander Holyfield back in the 90s. I hate to see these old Boxers continue the way they do. It's like seeing an old 70s rock group that is just a shell of their former selves. The guy Tugstrom almost beat Bowe too. He really gave him a great fight. No worry about Riddick ever becoming champion again I don't think. But it was really strange because I hadn't even heard of him in a long time. I think Riddick had to do some jail time if I remember right.

It wasn't exactly action packed but James Toney is now a world chump.. er champion. I was surprised Ruiz was so lackluster, his last fight he landed some really good shots against Golota.

I was a big Bowe fan, those fights against Golota were wild. I think he took too many shots though, Bowe's been slurring his speech and his ex manager was insinuating brain damage. Not too mention Bowe attempting to kidnap his wife. I feel bad for the guy, he doesn't need to fight because he still has plenty of money. He's probably addicted to the buzz kinda like Holyfield.
