Swiss Tool X
No Crahen I have the Victorinox "Swiss Tool X" . I am not even familiar with the one you are talking about. I just wish that the Great Spyder Factory would make a conventional type multi-tool. Don't get me wrong because I like the Spyderench and I keep one of them in my vehicle along with my Swiss Tool. I know that the Great Spyder Factory usually doesn't do things in a "conventional" manner but this needs to be an exception

Have several Leathermans, but never tried a Victorinox multitool. Hear ony good things about them. I have all kinds of Victorinox SAKs though.
Well, I guess I better get one of those new Spirits while they are still $37.99 at Amazon

Hi crahen,
I own a Swisstool, but the old one, not the "Spirit". I love it, the tools fold out of the outside of the handles and lock when opened. The pliers are heavy duty and have rounded handles so they never hurt your hand when you exert force. The highly polished stainless steel gives smooth action and good looks. IMHO the best multitool. At the current Amazon price it can't be beat.
I have handled the "Spirit", here's my impression:
It is slightly slimmer and lighter but probably as sturdy. The handles are shorter, maybe not as comfortable for large hands...
On the plus side it has scissors which the old one hasn't.
On the minus side it has only one blade, serrated and without a tip, looks a little like a straight razor. The old tool has one plain and one serrated blade, both with tip, which I like better.
I definitely like the new bit ratchet which can be purchased separately or in a set with the multitool. I have the old bit handle and will probably get the new one, it's just too cool.

I agree with silverback, and I have made up a blade of 440F to replace the existing non-serated one.

Why replace the blade? Did you need another shape, is it the steel?

Yup, 440F is 440C with a little bit of cobolt. 59 Rockwell hardness.
The original blade is 440A, about 55/56 Rockwell, so I have better edge holding, and a tougher blade to boot. The shape is similar, the grind too... when it is done, I will post a pic....

Say "zackerty" I have never even heard of 440F. I consider myself somewhat of a steel fanatic too. You say it just has a little additional cobalt. Gee that is a little reminiscent of ATS-55. I believe if I remember right that is what they were attempting to do with that steel. Who makes knives with this metal. I would love to try it.
