Moran! The first Spydie fixed blade.

I finally have added a Moran FB01 to my Spyderco collection of knives(Thanks "Automatic"!! I'm not sure if that is his "handle" here). I have wanted one since they first came out. I always liked the crossdraw leather sheath, and mirror finish blade. Then they changed to no mirror finish, and a kydex sheath. No problem, I still wanted one, bid on a few on Ebay, had a trade or two that didn't work out, I knew I would pick one up someday, just never got around to.

I got around to it this week. I picked up a slightly used mirror finish Moran, with a kydex sheath AND the original leather sheath!!! Happy Dance!!

There are some faint kydex scratches on the blade, but it is so sweet/cool/awesome to finally own a mirror finish, signed, with leather sheath Moran FB01. I'm so happy!!

Spyderfly and the original style FB01?

Everyone stay away from Blades until a calming period has passed. People doing happy dances and wiggles dances with knives are potentially lethal no matter how cool they and their new knives are.

One of the issues I've found with my Bill-Moran Featherweight is the Tek-Lok fastener does not allow me to carry the knife IWB in the waistband for city carry. This has relegated the knife to hiking and fishing uses or parka pocket(which I prefer my Camillus pilot survival for anyway). Suffice to say that for fishing, small game hunting and mountain biking its a perfect companion but for city self defense a IWB type sheath is crucial.

Been carrying my moran horizontal(rear, inside the waistband)) to right... about 3 weeks like this.

had it since jan/feb, but finally got a kydex for it. Custom kydex from eric "normark" is the best way to go.

How do you mount it IWB? cuz the Tek-Lok is fastened to the sheath in 2 places the belt has to be on the same side as the sheath and the Tek-Lok doesn't reach across the sheath enough to attach both screws to the top two holes of it. Im confused because I've tried everything and mine won't unless I just leave it attached by one screw.

I only want to get the mirrored finish on one of these. Although if I do I probably will pick up the Black bladed version to set it off.

Now I have to decide to "use" or "not use". I had a coworker say I shouldn't use it, but it doesn't seem right to just "collect" this knife. It sure is shiny.

if you're wondering about my post, I have a custom sheath on it. Email eric "normark"(On/Scene Tactical) about a g-clip...

have mine rigged up so the clip is over and outside, mounting surface sits inside my belt line under the jeans. Top set of holes has the edge even with my belt line.

The moran workes very well for IWB.

1. Remove tec Lock
2. Attach static 550 paracute cord to top hole of kydex.
3. Tie a simple loop.
4. insert belt into loop and tuck knife into pants.

done.

Yap Sam, during the Hari Raya Aidil Adha. My brother in-law asking me to help him and their community at that time at Taman Bukit Rimau, Shah Alam. Normally I went back to my hometown, but the last Aidil Adha I did not.

Well I don't see too many cows here in Fayetteville, NC, but that is good to know!!
I have it attached to the shoulder strap on my slingbag now, so it will be with me at work, but with the amount of folders I carry, I doubt it will see much use.
My kydex sheath was made by Edgeworks, and it holds it tight. It isn't going to fall out.

Sam,

Even my wife didn't know about the exact price i paid for the knife (otherwise I'm in trouble - me not chicken, he..he..he..just want to make sure healthy environment).
My officemate said I'm crazy, It's up to individual; an antique car to other people is a junk metal to me.

You know, I didn't even try my Tek-lok on my sheath. I'll have to see how it will hook to it. Hmm...
