Last night I put a blue Edge Pro tape on a scrap piece of leather to use as a strop. It workes really nice. I don't use the tapes with the EP so they have just been hanging around. I'm going to try this idea in various ways. I have cow hide and horse hide leather. Horse is pretty hard. So basically I'm putting the tapes on things I can hold on to. I might make a handle that I can slide the EP tape blanks into so I can put the tapes on the blanks. The softer leather will give the tapes the softer surface like a strop. The tapes do firm up the leather so it won't compress as much. The horse hide is hard enough with the tape on it that it feels just about as hard as wood. Cow is softer.
Anyway, I'm going to play with this as it gives me a coarser surface than the diamond paste I use for strops AND I get to use the tapes I paid for.
Just thought I'd share this for those who may want to try it. I doubt if I'm the first one to think of it though.
