View Full Version : That's too much!!!
I don't know if I should have posted this thread in the Knock offs section, but this is not one knife, that's a whole site. Check this out:

Ok, they did not steal the name, but look at the designs.
Is there any way to get rid of all this crap through some legal actions or to do something about this? Does Spyderco react to this somehow?

They at least priced them right. Most of 'em are free!

Our management philosophy: "Make it solid, Let Navy become your believable friend!"
I believe you are ripping off Spyderco.

I can tell you that taking legal action is a waste of money and time. Paying lawyers for nothing, plus it looks international which would be much worse I'm sure (if anything can even be done). It would seem to me they're better off just doing what they do best, making amazing knives and selling them...

Copying products is what China does best.
These knives are all over the place:

Ive seen these 'navy' knives around ebay and the net. Really disappointing .
going through the fakes: gunting, lil temp and police, and native, fake goddard???
they list how they use the compression lock, thats patented .
and they modify other companies blades :(

Definitely should be in the knock offs section. The knives are almost certainly made in China and marketed from there as well, at least originally. Most actionable feature would probably be the compression lock on the Wartiger, because it's patented.
OTOH, I do see some measure of poetic justice in the Skirmish knock off. ;) :D

Just ask Microsoft how many bootleg copies of Windows are out there.
Here in New York City, I can walk down the street and pick up bootleg DVDs of films that were just released in the theaters for $5 or 3 for $10. I've seen a few of them and the quality is actually quite good. No, I didn't buy them, but I know people who have.
NYPD and the Feds have cracked down on it to some extent, but as long as there are customers, there will be people selling illegal knockoffs....and drugs.

Not to mention that knockoffs of BM 4X (and of decent quality, I may add) can be found for about $40...

It makes you wonder what borders and ports we really should be securing. I like fresh fruit from American farms, but illegal knockoffs from child-labor factories isn't to my taste.
