I don't have a pic but I carry: Dragonfly or Delica right side IWB. Right front pocket: S&W .38 snub or NAA .22 magnum. Nothing else in that pocket. Left front pocket: cell phone, car keys, coin holder. Back right pocket: wallet. And does tacticooledc actually carry a 1911 type auto in a pocket?

This is a typical office day configuration... From left to right, I'm carrying my trusty DragonFly2 ZDP with Atwood bronze lanslide, a first issue Terzuola Jr., the keyring with Atwood brass whistle, Levenger pocket briefcase (3x5 cards), Atwood titanium mini-Ghost, and my Fischer titanium Millenium space pen. I don't really *need* two blades around the office, but you know how it is...some knives just beg to be carried...

Yes it is, found it online. That is a fine looking knife.
Thank you sir, I just recently acquired it yesterday as it was love at first sight at the most wonderful cutlery store I have ever had the honor of entering. Funny it took me all of 1.5 months to look for a knife shop, and it turned out to be right next to my company corporate office in Houston, TX! Prices were comparable to the internet deals and the store owner was glad to dish out knowledge and compare theories for 1 or 2 hours. Didn't have the heart to walk out without buying something
As for the pic above, that's the 5.11's pic, not mine. It's a vest with a pocket for a handgun so technically I do carry a 1911 in my pocket :D
But honestly that was just an excuse to include my beloved 1911 with the rest of my edc stuff, i don't even think a 1911 would fit in that 5.11's vest

Doc, after 5 years of carrying knives I still can't understand why you carry so many :D
I mean if you ever did have to use them and not your revolver (which you also have 2 of, do you plan on missing more than 5 times?), when would you ever need more than 2 knives? Are you expecting the blades to snap with every thrust/cleave?
I mean no offense by this post I just can't understand why you need so many redundancies

Where did you get that lanyard for the ladybug man? I could use one of those!
Most of us probably make our knife lanyard ourselves, I included.
Our favourite material is paracord, you can find it in army surplus stores and several online stores. Beads can often be found in online stores as well.
Lighthound and Rotokid's shop (just google) for example sell both of these.
Lighthound also has a couple tutorials on a couple styles, (the one in the picture included) link (http://www.lighthound.com/Paracord-Lanyard-Weaving_ep_38-1.html).
You can also find pre-made lanyards in similar shops in case you don't feel like fooling around with cord yourself, I've also made a couple for other people. :)

I train them in weapons disarming, weapons retention, speed cuffing, suspect control and restraint, take downs, body searches and firearms training. Yes it does weigh me down a bit....but think of the baseball players in the on deck batters box with a weighted donut on his bat while he practices in the box it's heavy...when he is up at bat his bat feels like a toothpick...making him quicker, faster and in my case more deadly.....Doc:D

It's a joke but it hits home for me...
A Florida State trooper pulled over a pick-up truck owner for a faulty taillight. When the officer approached the driver, the man behind the wheel handed the officer his driver’s license, insurance card and a concealed weapon carry permit.
The officer took all the documents, looked them over and said. "Mr.
Smith, I see you have a CCP. Do you have any weapons with you?"
The driver replied, " Yes sir first off I'm carrying a few fixed blade knives and a coupe of folding knives clipped to my pockets and a bowie knife in my boot"
"I have a .357 handgun in a hip holster on my right hip and another on my left hip , a .45 in the glove box and a .22 derringer in my other boot."
The officer looked at the driver and asked, "Anything else?"
"Yes sir, I have a Mossberg 500 12 gauge and an AR-15 behind the seat."
The officer asked if the man was driving to or from a shooting range
and the man said he wasn't, so the officer bent over and looked into the driver's face and said "Mr. Smith, you're carrying quite a few guns and knives.
May I ask what you are afraid of?
Mr. Smith locked eyes with the officer and calmly answered,
"Not a freaking thing!"

Doc, it's true weight training is great but if you say you carry all that every day, you're still gonna be heavy when you will need that extra lightweight mobility (knife fights are determined with mobility as a major part from what I know)

OK let me give you one situation for example why carrying one knife (for arguments sake) on your strong side right pocket clipped to your pants, could be a determent in a SD situation. Let's say for example you suddenly are attacked and your opponent has you pinned to a wall sideways trapping your right arm between your body and the wall. Now you no longer have the ability to draw your right pocketed knife...ut oh....by having other knives to access on different parts of your body that can be reached from different positions, depending on where your body is at any given time during an attack or where your body ends up during an attack could be a life safer....I can think of 20 more reasons to carry multiple weapons, but time does not permit me to write them all down....That should keep you thinking for a little while at least....Doc:D
Example #2) When I received training as a US Special Agent and training for being a Law Enforcement Agent Firearms Instructor, I was trained by the Chief Firearms Instructor for the Federal Agency for Protective Services, (in layman's terms The Secret Service). I'll never forget his declaration to me, he said, "If you have a real need to carry a firearm, then you have a real need to carry two." Point being (and I know you were being cute by asking if I expect my blades to break on each thrust), but the fact really exists that all Firearms and Folding Knives for example, are nothing more than mechanical devices which can always be subject to failure. If your lock on your Spyderco Para-Military should fail when SHTF...what are you left with, maybe at best a Kubotan....If your Glock 9mm gets a defective round stuck in the chamber....you can't just shoot it out to clear the jam...if you do your gun will blow up in your face...if a bullet is lodged in the barrel and you don't have the time or equipment like a de-jammer to clear the obstruction...what are you left with, a Piece of Plastic to strike with at contact distance....not a good thing to have when the other guys bullets are zipping past your head. The more equipment you have with you to deal with a certain type of situation, the better your chances are of surviving if the equipment fails. Think of it this way a carpenter, mechanic etc. doesn't have just one tool in his tool box, how can anyone fix everything with just one tool. If they are good at their trade, when you look in their tool box, not only will you see different tools, but you will see redundancy (as you call it) There won't be one screwdriver, but several, and maybe several different types, with several different functions, or the same screwdriver in different lengths or with different grip style....I hope you getting what I'm trying to say here......Doc:D
Dr. Snubnose

Ay Tacti: Why di you delete this post...it's good....it shows that you are beginning to understand.....the possibilities....Doc:D
posted and deleted by tacticooledc:
Thanks Doc, that's plenty of food for thought!
This past week I've been liking my Benchmade 860 Bedlam so much I've been wanting to get a second one, and as soon as I thought of that, I thought of Doc and his millions of edc knives :D Then I realized it could be useful having one in my right and one in my left pocket not only in case of immobilization of the left or right hand, but the use of two large knives in a self defense situation could very well help you win by a landslide- if you have two hands and are only using one to wield a blade while the other is for blocking and grabbing, why not have knives in both? You can still block with the weak arm and a knife, but you get twice the frequency of cuts and an ability to wound while blocking. They also have a large metal pommel on the butt, so not only do you double your frequency of attacks, you can now follow through with pommel strikes which transition to cuts.
And here I go derailing my own topic again
Not a derail at all...just a discussion which everyone might benefit from and gain understanding....Doc:D

Thanks for the great explanations on everything Doc. This reminds me of a magazine article I read where the author said that you need a knife that anyone can know about and one that nobody knows about. You take it to the next level by having several weapons that nobody knows about.

Jeeze Doc, were you reading it while i deleted it or something? I was just trying to keep order in the topic and delete a mistake :D
Makes me nervous, not only can Doc kick my ass on the street, he can bring back my posts from the dead :eek::eek:

You don't need to be nervous(unless you're a BG, ;)), fortunately, Doc is one of the good guys.

How do you like the Gen 4? I can't seem to get a feel for them. I guess I'm too stuck on my Gen 3 G26 and G19.

The grips "bite" more than the Gen3, which has a smoother texture across the wider sides of the grip. Gen2 is even better to carry, IMO.
I like the reduced-size grips, and both my 9mm (G19, G26) are Gen4. Larger magazine release it nice, but the trigger is a tad bit heavier (about 6.5 lbs, vs. the normal 5.5 lb trigger.) The are both accurate, for sure.
