to be frank, not really my cup of tea, but I am quite intrigued by this hollow grind with convex ground tip! May I ask why you guys decided on this? Tip strengthening?

Beautiful Knife, but where is the Sub-hilt?...Doc
Sorry, but to my eyes that's probably only :spyder: knife where trademark round hole just doesn't seem to belong at all. I am a big fan of hollow ground blades though. Hope experiment goes on. I see great potential, and hate to say this here, but this knife makes me wish that Buck comes with something like that. It would not have this hole, it would be made of SS, G-10 and S30V, and at same time probably cost less. But even if it wouldn't cost less i would still buy it.

I love the handle and bolsters ... but I am not convinced about the way the blade bulges around the Spydie-hole. But I am sure I'd be converted if I held one :D
Finally, I think I'm in love.:D

Love it! Plz make a slightly smaller one. I have this pesky 3.5" blade law :(.

I examined it during the SPyderco meeting in Amsterdam. In general I liked it quite a bit, even if it's rather bulky for EDC.
The one thing I didn't like were the screw holes in the bolsters. Yes this allows the clip to be positioned everywhere, but clean undamaged bolsters look so much nicer !

Is it me or the way that lock is exposed could make it really dangerous?
Otherwise it looks great.

Handled it today at Blade. Loved it, gotta have it.
Pleased to announce that the Butch Vallotin design won the imported knife of the year award at the Blade Show.

Beautiful Knife, but where is the Sub-hilt?...Doc
The sub-hilt is cosmetic rather than functional. I get what you're saying, but I guess aesthetics won out this time. Still a darn good-looking knife.

Got my hands on one the other day. It looks and feels in hand like a Spyderco Bushcraft folder. Bear with me. The blade thickness and overall length of the Vallotton is very similar to the Bushcraft. It's also similar in weight and the black polished G10 looks the same to me. Good feel in hand and smooth action. Winner.
