I can't remember if this is the same seller but quite frankly I am getting damned tired of reporting a listing for this POS.

Yeah, I have no sympathy with people who sell trash like this and pretend later that they didn't know it was a knock-off. It takes a few minutes to check whether something is fake or not before selling it and the onus is on the seller to make sure that they are not breaking the law

Same s**t, different seller, at least from the one I noticed a week or so back. Which is not to say this one hasn't listed this, or similar junk before.

FWIW, I just reported it to eBay as a trademark infringement.

I reported it early this afternoon as well. You'd think after so many reports it would have been taken down by now????The only report that might get it pulled instantly would be a communication directly from Spyderco to eBay complaining of the trademark infringement. In fairness, eBay has no way of knowing if you and I are correct, or perhaps just have an axe to grind with the seller we report.

TazKristi

Just an update... I heard back from the seller and he has removed the auction. Through my e-mails with him I believe that he honestly believed the knife was a Spyderco and was led to believe that by his supplier. He's learned a lot about us now. ;) He seemed like a nice person and he's done the right thing without any arguing or posturing.

Again, thank you for bringing this to our attention.

The ebay user "hkwjshop" continues to post fakes. I've reported about 10 listings in the last 12 hours. Not sure if Spyderco can do anything to stop this user, but it might be worth a shot considering the volume of fakes.

ChrisR

I think if sellers reside in the PRC then they are out of reach to most legal challenges. The best action would be for Spyderco to complain to eBay that they are not doing enough to prevent fakes appearing on the site and when reported they are not taking them down fast enough.

The traders themselves need to be banned and repeat offenders need to have their bank/paypal details put on a ban list so they cannot be re-used. IPs are too easy to renew but all of the traders need to be able to get their hands on the money somehow so blocking that route would be quite effective I think.

Looks like the seller avoids the fraud reports by only listing for 24 hours, by the time ebay looks in to the listing you report it has already ended. Same thing with the other user names they use. I wonder if anyone has sent one in to Spyderco for repairs.

I hear ya, it seems every time I report it the listings just multiply. I could block the seller so I didn't have to see it but its the principle that we are trying to help a respected company by joining forces to report the seller and yet nothing happens, very frustrating.

Each to their own :) I use it for cheap things and I often find that eBay is the *only* place that I can source some things - some of the stuff I have bought in the last year: 20-inch zip-lock bags, cardboard posting tubes, yellow 160gsm card, wet&dry paper, iPhone screen covers, pedometer ... it's useful but they are absolutely infuriating in some of their policies, like the lack or rigour when tackling fakes and their anti-knife policy in the UK :(

Back on-topic - I reported all of his fake-Spydercos .. again :D

I used to sell excess computer equipment on eBay, I had a ball, got acquainted with many folks all over the world. met a few jerks too, but the majority were great. More recently I added many Spydercos :spyder: to my collection. I got stuck with one fake and purchased what turned out to be a total knockoff off Spyderco, I just was not as careful as I usually am reading the listing. (Looking over his shoulder) I have purchased many new and used knives and was completely satisfied. I really enjoy the hunt, especially the bidding process, as my Father said, I have horse trading in my blood. :)

I believe that there are good sellers on Ebay. I have bought many knives and will probably buy many more. I have found that to be one of the best places to find old discontinued models and good deals. There are those though that taint the waters by selling this junk.

It's probably a good thing that they changed things up where you cannot contact the bidders or my keyboard would never get a rest. :)

I have bought 200 items from Ebay over the years and been burned twice. Not bad odds from where I sit.

Just so you know this is not a Spyderco but a cheap knock off of a discontinued item. Check this listing and notice the different lanyard bolt and lack of boye dent on the lock button. It's a G Sakai knife that Spyderco MAY have distributed at one time, as they did with a number of other G Sakai knives, including the PE version of that model. They did the same with knives by Moki, Hiro, and at least one other Japanese knifemaker as well. However, even if Spyderco distributed and sold it, it was never marketed as a Spyderco product.
