Yay! Are there any plans to offer the Rescue in colors other than orange? I'm interested in getting one, but I'd like to differentiate it a little more from my G10 version.

I doubt it, so far pretty much every model geared specifically towards rescue use have safety orange handles, though with the FRN UKPK prices you could buy 2 and make a blade swap, very easy with so few parts. :)

(Or you could just dye the orange and save some money.)

That's somewhat true-ish, but in the case of other Rescues, the handles are often unique to the model and made by contractors in Japan. Since the UK is a) built in house and b) identical in handle to other variations that already have other colors and will soon have even more, making color variations for this blade as well would be a simple matter. As you say, it's easy enough for us to swap them, so it would be easier still for the factory to just grab a different color during assembly. Making a new variation of it would be a matter of reaching a hand into a different bin.

Also, the Assists come in black, the regular Rescues come in black and used to come in blue, waved Rescues were blue-grey, Saver Salt comes in Yellow (of course) and black, and the Cara Cara and Meadowlark Rescues come only in black I think. As far as I can see just glancing down the product listing, the G10 UK Rescue is the only previous rescue knife to come only in orange with no option of another color, and the G10 Slipit line may not really count since it's structured a little differently: they're loosely divided into one blade/one color configurations (Urban: orange wharncliffe, green leaf; UK: orange sheepsfoot, green drop, both colors plus black on leaf blade). So there's really no precedent for limiting them to orange only.

So I'd guess there will be FRN UK Rescues in other colors since making even just a few requires so little investment, and Sal has said they'll make whatever the customers demand, and the swaps SpydieGuys did seemed to indicate there's strong demand for orange drop points and at least some for blue and maroon rescues. I'm mostly just wondering if it's something planned for the near future that they'd be willing to tell us about, or maybe something we might see down the road around the time of the BD-1 changeover. Or if, as you suggested, a decision has already been made to release it only in orange for some reason, which would be very surprising to me.

(I'm guessing there will be new colors to mark the steel switch, and possibly even the retirement of one or more of the current colors to differentiate the runs. I'm hoping we see the green and purple from the FFG Deliduras! And maybe a darker blue? Pink? Foliage green? And.... :))

Any owners out there want to give their impressions? The 2.5mm thick SE blade would have to be pretty nice for EDC.

They used to come in more than just black and grey and blue.

So they did! I've probably seen that shot before but I was just going by what's still visible on the site. Thanks for the reminder.

Personally I'd like one with a plain edge.
That's the ultimate Spyderco knife for me.
I have a PE Atlantic Salt, and a UK legal version of that would really make my day.
