Hi Kristi,

The MSRP on the 2010 Retail Pricing Guide is $199.95 and $169.95 on Spyderco's website. Which one is correct?

Price at SFO was apparently neither:

It was 139 with tax I think they might be sold out thought :(

Thread jacked......

Awesome news for the Para2 though.

Excellent news! And I'm looking forward to hearing more about the controversy between smoothone and MCM over the inclusion of both their stamps on the blade of the Para2! Personally, I think SO's S logo is very classy looking, but MCM's stamp scores major puntos for looking like a badass scorpion from the right angle. Whatever the case, great job on the redesign, you two!! :D

I agree with Mark that posting something along the lines of "wait until they are available for less elsewhere" in Kristi's thread is not very nice, especially considering that for this release they lowered the SFO price well below MSRP.

Guys, I got news: there is a great feature called the Ignore List. ;)

Anyone notice that the product page has dropdown menus for color and edge? Only black and PE available right now of course, but it's at least a GREAT sign for the future! :) Wonder why they're suddenly changing up the product page structuring like that though, selectable options on one page instead of the usual page for each variation.

Very nice...

It will be either this one, or the JB-rescue this year.
I am curious about the rescue's MSRP though.
However, I do like ths price of the Para-2. :D

Thanks for the heads up !

I do like the looks of this one. It seems to solve the main problem I had with the original Para, which was that the blade to handle ratio just never felt right. The new version has more blade, overall and edge, in the same size handle.

I'm in for one. Someone is getting me a late bday present! Are any other colors close behind? I'd love digi or green, and I'd kick myself if I got black and one of those two colors showed up right after(although black is nice too...just all my Spydercos are currently black).

I handled one of these at the SFO late this afternoon. It's absolutely wonderful and worth all of the wait for it.

Hi all, am about to replace my SOS seal pup, have been tempted by a review at www.mysurvivalknives.com about the new Gerber Bear Grylls knife but wonder how much I'm paying for the name. Any suggestions please.
Many thanks
Kyle.

SPYDERCO makes several knives that I imagine would be excellent in a survival situation, although I've never personally found myself in that kind of setting.

If you want more info on Bear Grylls blades, I'd suggest logging onto to Bladeforums and checking out their Bear Grylls equipment threads in the general forum and the Wilderness & Survival subforum.

Honestly, I don't see much about the Grylls knife that would make it a particularly great survival KNIFE...it does have some other cool features but the knife/blade itself seems nothing special IMO. I'd definitely check out the new Bushcrafter from spyderco--great edge holding steel, and a scandi grind which makes for super easy sharpening. Of course that's in a different price range entirely, but in terms of materials and craftmanship, I think you'll get what you pay for
