At least the guy listed it as "it's not "the real mccoy"". What part of "not the real" doesn't he get? Don't potential buyers get that it will surely be a very poor quality ripoff?

Spyderco must protect its trademark but just what do the end user buyers think they are getting? I'd guess the usual buyer of this crap is clueless.

You could drill almost any blade as long as it is soft enough but that will not make a good knife as well as violating TM resrictions.

As I see it this will be an ongoing battle. Educating the masses would be the best long term solution but the masses are the masses.

BTW, where do these resellers get these Spyderco ripoffs? Can not someone go after the original TM thieves? I realize the money spent would not be worth a long battle but chasing every EBAYer can not have much affect on this problem.

I do not have an answer or even any workable advise.

But, he put Spyderco in the title. I reported it yesterday. We'll see if they do anything about it. I swear I have the report button on speed dial lately.

Selling and/or attempting to sell counterfeit goods is illegal in the US (18 U.S.C. 2320 (http://www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/html/uscode18/usc_sec_18_00002320----000-.html)), therefore one could easily argue that Mr. "knifemanb" is breaking the law by having that knife listed. Perhaps letting the folks at eBay know that will speed up the removal of that listing. Obviously not all Spyderco knockoffs are considered "counterfeit goods," but I believe this particular one is because it is wrongly marked with Spyderco's trademarked logo.

Knives (and dealers) like this make me angry.
